This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.
Despite missing fan favorites Naruto and Sasuke, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is becoming a captivating story. While fans definitely feel their absence, Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto have successfully introduced a new generation of characters, lessening the impact of Naruto and Sasuke’s departure. Just as Sasuke had Boruto as his successor, Naruto also has his own heir.
Initially, many fans thought Boruto Uzumaki would follow in Naruto’s footsteps. As the story developed, some began to believe Kawaki would be his successor, largely because Naruto trained him. However, the character who truly embodies Naruto’s legacy right now is actually Himawari Uzumaki, Naruto’s daughter. Like her father, she possesses the unwavering spirit known as the ‘will of fire,’ and she has also inherited the immense power of Kurama.
Himawari Uzumaki Is Naruto’s True Heir In Boruto
Himawari Has Inherited The Power Of Kurama
- Himawari is a Human Tailed Beast
- Naruto Uzumaki can train her directly
Throughout the series, Naruto’s greatest strength was Kurama, the powerful Tailed Beast sealed inside him. They began as rivals, but Naruto’s kindness eventually earned Kurama’s respect and proved that Naruto valued all Tailed Beasts. The unique connection between Naruto Uzumaki and Kurama was incredibly strong, which made it shocking when it was severed during the battle with Isshiki Otsutsuki. Losing Kurama left Naruto without his powers, but surprisingly, Kurama’s essence later reappeared within Naruto’s daughter.

Fans then discovered that Kurama had somehow been reborn inside Himawari. Even more surprisingly, Kurama and Himawari weren’t simply host and beast – they were revealed to be a single being, sharing one body and soul. The fact that Kurama, a creature defined by hatred, accepted Himawari suggests he recognized her as Naruto’s true successor and believed she would carry on his legacy.
Boruto Follows Sasuke
He Has Already Learned Everything From The Uchiha
Unlike his father, Boruto Uzumaki became a student of Sasuke Uchiha. Although many fans hoped he would follow in Naruto’s footsteps, the creators decided to have him learn from the Uchiha clan’s methods. This was a smart choice, as it fits Boruto’s character and, importantly, allows his sister Himawari to shine and potentially surpass their father’s legacy – something that wouldn’t have been possible if Boruto had been chosen instead.

I’m seriously hyped to see Himawari Uzumaki develop in the next few arcs of Boruto! Kurama has hinted that she’s got unbelievable potential – she might even surpass Naruto! What’s really exciting is that her connection with the Nine-Tails seems even stronger than Naruto’s was, which could make her the ultimate master of Kurama’s power. I can’t wait to see what she’s capable of!
Overall, Naruto’s children, Boruto and Himawari, are both developing well in the Boruto series, and fans are eager to see where the story goes next with Ikemoto and Kishimoto at the helm. As Boruto trains independently to overcome challenges like Shinju, and Himawari receives guidance from Kurama, the upcoming fights promise to be thrilling.
The next chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, chapter 28, will be released on November 20, 2025, at 10 AM Eastern Time / 3 PM Coordinated Universal Time. Fans can read it for free on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
