This article contains spoilers from Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
The *Boruto* series continues the story of *Naruto*, and fans are aware that the Otsutsuki clan poses a major threat in this new era. Although *Naruto* begins with Naruto Uzumaki as the most powerful ninja, that changes as stronger opponents appear and Naruto’s own power level is reduced. However, the creator, Kishimoto, intentionally showed glimpses of both Naruto and Sasuke Uchiha’s abilities throughout the series.
Most fans know that Naruto and Sasuke have a long-standing, friendly competition. They battled each other often in the original *Naruto* series, and even though they’re now close friends, that rivalry hasn’t disappeared. The creator, Kishimoto, always intended for Naruto and Sasuke to be fairly equal in strength as adults. However, the *Boruto* series seems to show Sasuke has become stronger than Naruto, which surprised many viewers. This comes from the series’ artists, Ikemoto and Kishimoto, who depict Sasuke as powerful enough to fight and even wound a character called Limiter-less Code – something they suggest Naruto wouldn’t be capable of.

- Sasuke Uchiha got strong enough to fight Code
- Naruto remained powerless
At the start of the Boruto series, Sasuke and Naruto were evenly matched and incredibly powerful. They were able to fight together and even hold their own against a major threat like Momoshiki Otsutsuki – in fact, they were strong enough to defeat almost anyone. While Jigen did manage to defeat them, he needed the immense power of the Ten Tails to do it, and wouldn’t have stood a chance otherwise.

At his peak, Isshiki Otsutsuki was the only being capable of defeating both Naruto and Sasuke simultaneously. However, Naruto’s Baryon Mode proved too powerful for Isshiki, leaving him defeated. Later in the Boruto series, both Naruto and Sasuke lost most of their abilities during a single storyline, though they didn’t remain completely powerless.

Naruto was trapped by Kawaki, but Sasuke and Boruto escaped and spent time training. During the year that passed, Sasuke became significantly more powerful, even without using his Rinnegan. After a year and a half, Sasuke was strong enough to fight Code on equal footing and even injure him, all while protecting Boruto and facing Code’s ally, Claw Grimes. Throughout this time, Naruto remained sealed away.

The Two Must Always Be Equal

Many fans have questioned Sasuke’s power level, and the answer is becoming clear. It’s been stated that Code, when fighting at his full potential, surpassed even Jigen in strength. Considering Sasuke inflicted a serious injury on Code *without* Code using his full power or receiving help from Claw Grimes, it’s evident that Sasuke is now significantly more powerful than Naruto.
Despite everything, Naruto and Sasuke consistently develop alongside each other. When Naruto reappears, viewers can anticipate he’ll become more powerful and reach a similar strength level as Sasuke. However, that moment is still quite far off.

The next chapter of *Boruto: Two Blue Vortex*, chapter 27, will be released on October 20, 2025, at 10 AM Eastern Time / 3 PM Coordinated Universal Time. Fans can read it for free on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps when it’s available.
