As a dedicated Bosch: Legacy fan, I was thrilled when I learned that the third season wasn’t meant to be the final chapter for Harry Bosch. The creative team had even mapped out plans for a potential fourth season. But then, in September 2024, Amazon announced the cancellation of the series. This decision sparked an immediate reaction from fans, leading to the creation of the Save Bosch: Legacy petition. To date, this passionate call-to-action has amassed over 33,000 signatures.
How Does Bosch: Legacy Season 3 End?
In a new twist of events, Harry Bosch ropes in his former Afghanistan special forces partner, Kenneth Gerbizs, to aid him in locating Finbar McShane in Mexico. Accompanying them is Maurice ‘Mo’ Bassi. Upon finding McShane, he goads Bosch and Gerbizs about the Gallagher family murder, prompting an immediate retaliation from Gerbizs, who shoots McShane dead. Back in Los Angeles, Bosch encounters Maddie, who questions him on whether he overstepped a boundary.

In other parts, Bosch apprehends Jack Garrity and delivers him to District Attorney Honey Chandler for trial regarding Jimmy Robertson’s murder, while Zorrillo is also found and detained. In the final episode of Bosch: Legacy, detective Renee Ballard arrives at Harry Bosch’s office suspecting him of stealing The Flower Girls cold case murder files. These two determined investigators team up to probe a case that has long troubled Bosch, eventually finding the perpetrator – a firefighter named Jeremy McKee. The series concludes with Bosch and Ballard going for a walk and agreeing to collaborate again in the future.

The new season of Bosch: Legacy begins by leaping forward eight months, following the intense cliffhanger where Maddie confronted Harry Bosch over suspicions about his role in Kurt Dockweiler’s murder. In this period, a special investigation into Dockweiler’s homicide is initiated, led by Robbery Homicide detective Jimmy Robertson and his partner Perry Lopez. They question Preston Borders, who is currently imprisoned, and he demands to speak with the District Attorney for a deal involving crucial information. It’s later discovered that Borders has orchestrated an elaborate escape plan, culminating in a gunfight. Jimmy Robertson saves Bosch by fatally shooting Borders. Additionally, Bosch grapples with the emergence of Frank Sheehan, who attempts to assassinate Honey Chandler, the District Attorney candidate. Bosch eventually locates Sheehan, and his previous associate takes his own life in the encounter.
In other parts of the storyline, Harry Bosch tackles the disappearance of the Gallagher family, leading him to a man named Finbar McShane, who was a business partner of the father. Simultaneously, he delves into the murder case of Jimmy Robertson, a victim of Humberto Zorrillo, a cartel villain, due to Robertson’s discovery of a conspiracy involving United Chemical and connections to fentanyl and a drug called The Black Ice. At the same time, Maddie Bosch and Reina Vasquez look into a string of home robberies in an upscale area, which eventually implicates three young suspects: Nestor Gomez, Victoria Hernandez, and Albert Torres, who is revealed to be Vasquez’s nephew, creating challenging situations for the LAPD officer.
