The story picks up eight months following the cliffhanger in season 2 of “Bosch: Legacy”. Honey Chandler (Mimi Rogers) is seen during her campaign for District Attorney of Los Angeles, speaking to a crowd. Subsequently, Jimmy Robertson (Paul Calderon) is tasked with investigating whether Harry Bosch (not explicitly mentioned but implied) could be linked to Kurt Dockweiler’s death. Interestingly, Maddie Bosch (Madison Lintz) hadn’t reported the received collect call from Preston Borders (Chris Browning), which might place her in a dangerous position too. Intriguingly, Robertson remains uncertain about Bosch’s involvement in the murder, and the investigation is kept under wraps, with his current partner, Agent Lopez (Miles Gaston Villanueva), also participating.

In “Bosch: Legacy” season 3, Harry Bosch is seen smoking a cigarette in L.A.’s nightscape when a shadowy figure approaches him. This individual introduces himself as Curtis Dignan, an ex-convict who carries data from Wasco State Prison, where Preston Borders is serving a life sentence and where Kurt Dockweiler was fatally shot. It turns out that Bosch had assisted Dignan in securing an advantageous release recommendation, and now Dignan is supplying Bosch with inside details about the Dockweiler case. Meanwhile, Maddie and her partner Reina Vasquez are dispatched to a high-end neighborhood due to a report of a severe home invasion, while an old acquaintance, Frank Sheehan, makes an appearance at Honey Chandler’s political campaign office, pretending to offer assistance but harboring hidden intentions.

During their lunch break, Bosch and Maddie find themselves in the company of Robertson and Lopez, who subtly announce their arrival without explicitly explaining their reason for being there. The conversation between Bosch and Maddie steers towards the Dockweiler case, with Bosch continuing to assert his innocence, just as he did eight months ago. Subsequently, Chandler contacts Bosch to seek his assistance regarding the Sheehan incident. As it turns out, tech expert Maurice ‘Mo’ Bassi has uncovered evidence that Sheehan has been tracking Chandler during her campaign trail. Bosch locates Sheehan at Harry Callahan’s hardware store, where he is now employed following the completion of his sentence. Suspecting foul play, Bosch engages in a conversation with Sheehan. Meanwhile, Chandler is pushing for additional police support for an upcoming charity event she’s attending, but her request is met with reluctance from the department, as they are still irked by her recent actions within their ranks.

Did Harry Bosch Protect Chandler From An Assassination Attempt?

Popular brands Crate and Barrel (Troy Evans and Gregory Scott Cummins) are investigating Sheehan’s residence. They inform Bosch that “the eagle has flown” which signals to him and Mo Bassi that they can proceed. Upon searching, they don’t find many clues, but suspect Sheehan may be planning an exit from life, as he seems to have given away all his possessions. Simultaneously, Robertson and Lopez uncover that Borders was using a temporary phone to contact someone residing in the Hollywood Hills. Guess who lives there? None other than Bosch himself.

At Chandler’s fundraiser, Bosch is in charge of security along with Maddie, Vasquez, and minimal police presence. Meanwhile, Crate and Barrel are keeping an eye on Sheehan’s house. They try to check if he’s there but receive no response, so they force open the door, only to find that Sheean has vanished. It turns out that Sheehan is at the charity event himself, and sets up a gun on a nearby rooftop. He fires several shots as a distraction, allowing him to approach Chandler more closely. As the episode concludes, Bosch pursues Sheehan, eventually cornering him. When he has the opportunity, Sheehan begs not to be arrested but instead takes his own life, with Maddie and Vasquez arriving just in time to witness the tragic event.
