The groundbreaking Netflix drama Adolescence, first aired in March 2025 and known for its heavy and enlightening portrayal of incel culture and harmful masculinity, left the world stunned. Now, there’s buzz about Season 2 as Brad Pitt’s production company is considering expanding the series further. The gripping storyline of Adolescence centers around the murder of high school student Katie (played by Emilia Holliday), who is brutally taken by a 13-year-old classmate named Jamie Miller (portrayed by Owen Cooper). Post his arrest, Jamie continues to claim his innocence, even swaying his father’s (Stephen Graham) beliefs until damning video evidence surfaces, flipping the narrative entirely.
Despite being filmed in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, England, the gripping narrative and significant themes portrayed in the series titled “Adolescence” resonated globally, as evidenced by 6.45 million viewers tuning in during its first week for episode one. Remarkably, each of the four episodes were shot in a single continuous take, offering an authentic and engaging viewing experience to the audience, immersed in the series’ challenging storyline. Co-created by Jack Thorne, recognized for his work on “His Dark Materials” and the stage play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, “, as well as Stephen Graham, a Liverpudlian star known for roles in “This is England, Snatch,” and “The Irishman“, “Adolescence” was initially conceived as a limited series. However, recent developments may be hinting at an expansion of the series.
Brad Pitt’s Production Company in Talks for Adolescence Season 2

As reported by Deadline, Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B Entertainment, is actively negotiating about producing another season of the impactful series “Adolescence” for Netflix. The co-presidents of Plan B, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, are said to be in conversations with Philip Barantini, the director of this powerful show. Given the significant impact it has made on its audience since its debut, a second season is not unforeseen, though many may find it surprising that Brad Pitt is involved. However, it’s worth noting that “Adolescence” has sparked much discussion and concern about online safety, even leading to invitations for the show’s creators to discuss this matter with members of parliament.
In a recent interview on a British morning program, Jack Thorne was asked if he might produce another season of the Netflix series Adolescence, but it appears they chose to conclude the show as intended. “I don’t believe we are the right team to tell Katie’s story,” Thorne explained. Nevertheless, this does not rule out the possibility of further episodes from a different production company. “I think there are other creators out there who could craft compelling dramas about characters similar to Katie, and these stories should be told,” Thorne added. He stated that their intention was to present Jamie’s story as thoroughly as possible, and perhaps continuing Katie’s story might lessen the impact or be beyond their abilities.

It’s possible that Brad Pitt’s company, Plan B Entertainment, could significantly elevate the storyline for the next season of the show, given their previous collaboration with Stephen Graham in the film “Snatch.” However, determining the optimal direction for Season 2 is challenging as it must preserve the series’ essential message and potentially explore themes like Jamie’s trial or the lasting effects of Katie’s murder on her mother.
Adolescence is streaming right now on Netflix.
