Brann Nerfed in Delves

Summary

  • Significant nerfs have been made to Brann’s tanking specialization in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 due to overperformance issues.
  • Changes include reduced damage and health, increased damage taken, and adjustments to abilities.
  • The nerfs were made to balance gameplay after players reported being able to clear high-tier Delves easily with tank Brann.

In Patch 11.1, the game World of Warcraft has introduced substantial adjustments to Brann’s new tanking specialization. These alterations involve decreases in his damage output and health, increases in the damage he takes, and modifications to numerous abilities. This overhaul was carried out due to the Delve companion being excessively powerful during Season 2 of World of Warcraft, particularly when combined with a dedicated healer.

The second season of “World of Warcraft: The War Within” commenced on March 4, introducing a new dungeon, raid, and assorted Delves and variations to the game. This update also incorporated a tanking specialization for Brann Bronzebeard, who serves as the Delve companion within “The War Within”.

It appears that after the initial week of its new role, Brann has shown exceptional skills, leading to adjustments in World of Warcraft. According to WoW community manager Kaivax, Brann’s tanking specializations will undergo substantial tweaks. The power and performance of several of his abilities have been scaled back, his health has been lowered by 20%, and the amount of damage he can withstand has increased by a substantial 60%.

As per the article, it’s stated that World of Warcraft implemented these alterations due to tank Brann outperforming in numerous areas, particularly when teamed with a healer. In just the first week, healers found it relatively effortless to solo clear Tier 11 Delves using Brann as a tank. Although World of Warcraft intends to enable dedicated healers to solo Delves utilizing this new tank specialization for Brann, his original equilibrium made the playstyle far superior compared to any other combination of specializations.

Indeed, fans are expressing dissatisfaction regarding these adjustments. Many argue that Tank Brann was excessively potent, contending his health depleted rapidly when more than one group of adversaries were encountered simultaneously. Others predict that these damage reductions will render running Delves arduous for healers, as it may now take an excessive amount of time for Brann to vanquish opponents. Although many comprehend Blizzard’s reasoning behind the nerfs, the majority of the community appears to believe they were unduly severe.

Fortunately, World of Warcraft has assured that they’ll make necessary balance changes to Brann if the nerfs cause him to become overly weak. In the meantime, players should keep in mind that Brann will not be as robust a tank when venturing into Delves during World of Warcraft: The War Within Season 2.

WoW Delves Tank Brann Adjustments – March 11, 2025

For the initial days of Season 2, it’s been observed that Brann’s Tank specialization has excelled significantly in completing Delves. Though we welcome diverse playstyles, especially healing-focused ones for those who enjoy it, Brann’s recent Tank upgrade seems overly potent when players primarily focus on healing him instead of actively participating in combat.

Aiming for fairness in Brann’s glasses: We want them to be evenly matched so that none has an unfair advantage over the others.

For the Delves, we’d like to provide a challenging yet rewarding progression that caters to any player’s preferred gameplay approach.

To achieve our objective, we’re fine-tuning Tank Brann across all regions by performing necessary upgrades and repairs.
