On April 24, Pokemon GO unveiled the introduction of the Applin evolutionary series as part of the Sweet Discoveries event. This mobile game is constantly expanding its roster of monsters from nine generations, including Galar, which boasts over 40 creatures for players to catch.

In November 2019, Pokemon GO introduced Galarian Wheezing to mark the launch of Pokemon Sword and Shield. Preceding this, Sirfetch’d and Ponyta made their debut in October 2019, coinciding with the release of DLC The Crown Tundra for Sword and Shield. Following these additions, Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres appeared in July 2022, while Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble joined the game in September 2024. Now, it has been announced that another Galar creature will be introduced as part of an upcoming event within the next few weeks.

starting from Thursday, April 24th at 10 am, I’ll be on the lookout for a new addition to my Pokémon collection as the Sweet Discoveries event kicks off! This Gen 8 Pokémon, Applin, will be popping up in the wild and as rewards for Timed Research tasks. If I manage to gather 200 Applin Candy along with 20 Tart Apples, I can evolve my Applin into Flappe or, with 20 Sweet Apples instead, transform it into Appletun! During the event, I’ll also be foraging for apples, and each one I tap will shower me with Sweet Apples, Tart Apples, or Pokémon encounters, including the elusive Applin. The event runs until Tuesday, April 29th, 2025, at 8 pm local time. Let’s see who can catch the most Applins!

Pokemon GO Adding Applin and its Evolutions During the Sweet Discoveries Event

During this special event, various bonuses will be offered. You’ll have a higher chance of encountering Delibird and Shiny Skwovet, plus double Candy for capturing Pokemon. The appearance rate of 13 different pocket monsters in the wild will increase, including Bounsweet and Bidoof. Eggs hatched from 7 km distances can yield Munchlax, Delibird, Cherubi, and Skwovet. New Field Research, Timed Research, and PokeStop Showcases tasks are being introduced. A paid Timed Research priced at $1.99 will be available, offering trainers two Mossy Lure Modules and encounters with event Pokemon as rewards. Two new avatar items – an Applin headband and apron – can be found in-game. The Pokemon GO Web Store will debut a $1.99 Ultra Box, providing two Mossy Lure Modules and event-themed encounters as rewards.

Apart from Applin, Galar isn’t limited to just one new Pokemon addition. Gossifleur and Edelgoss made their debut at the start of April during the Spring to Spring event. The month is also packed with other thrilling events. For instance, Tinkatink will make its entrance in Pokemon GO on April 16, and Dynamax Entei will appear in a Max Battle Weekend from April 26 to 27.
