Well, buckle up fellow gamers! I’ve got some disappointing news to share. Seems like Warner Bros. Games has pulled the plug on their Wonder Woman game project and, as per Jason Schreier from Bloomberg, they’re shutting down three studios: Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB San Diego. It’s a tough blow for us gaming enthusiasts who were eagerly waiting to explore this DC universe in a new way.
At The Game Awards 2021, it was officially revealed that Wonder Woman was being developed by Monolith Productions, who were originally established in 1994 and later became part of Warner Bros. Games in 2004. Notably, this game would incorporate the Nemesis system, a mechanic they’re known for from their Middle-earth games.
Following the cancellation of their debut game, MultiVersus, Player First Games is set to close down in May. This studio was purchased by Warner Bros. Games back in July 2024.
WB San Diego was founded in 2019, and focused primarily on mobile and free-to-play games.
