As a seasoned veteran of MMORPGs, having spent countless hours honing my skills and exploring virtual worlds, I must say that the Obelisk quest in Brighter Shores has been one of the most intriguing and rewarding experiences I’ve had in recent memory.
The latest creation by the Gower brothers, reminiscent of old-school MMORPGs, is called “Brighter Shores.” This game boasts a colorful universe teeming with magic and mythical creatures, much like its predecessor, Runescape. In Brighter Shores, players can choose from a multitude of careers to master, ranging from Forager to Chef and Guardian, ensuring an engaging experience for all types of gamers.
Among the initial missions players encounter post-tutorial is a quest known as “The Obelisk“. This mission becomes crucial after Corporal Binns sets a level goal of 60 for the players. Although players have the liberty to reach this level in their preferred manner, The Obelisk should be a top priority due to its significant benefits. Completing it grants access to Tuning, a mechanism that enables the activation and equipping of potent weapons and armor scattered throughout the game. Additionally, it rewards more than 10,000 Guard experience upon completion. Below, you’ll find instructions on how to unravel the secrets of The Obelisk and enjoy its perks.

Prior to embarking on the mission, players should ensure they are strong enough to conquer a level 10 adversary by boosting their Guard stat, utilizing looted items after defeating enemies, and brewing potions for healing during battles. The Obelisk quest can be initiated by conversing with Commander Hackett near the Town Gates’ walls, which is located quite far to the east from the Town Square. He will task players with recovering a stolen key from a goblin thief.

Once they hand over the key, players will be given two unsharpened swords. They then need to journey towards the Hopeport Obelisk, which lies west of the Town Square. This obelisk is situated a bit further and upon arrival, it’s found to be damaged. The players must search for the missing Obelisk Shard in Wilhope Crossing, located south and east of the Obelisk. In the river next to the bridge near the stone wall, they will find this shard leaning against the wall.
Upon bringing back and employing the fragment of the Obelisk, character Channette near you will provide a guidance tablet. Speaking to Channette again afterwards will guide you to Naybeth the Philosopher to acquire further knowledge. Naybeth is situated in a house situated along the eastern road en route to the Town Gate, where your quest initially commenced. Here, he will offer you four sigil items, corresponding to the symbols found on the edges of the Instruction Tablet.
Use The Sigils Around The Hopeport Obelisk
Upon revisiting the Obelisk, players must apply the sigils onto the four ancient pillars surrounding the Hopeport Obelisk, following the positions shown on the Instruction Tablet. Once accomplished, they should journey to the Training Ground, where they’ll interact with Anjay.
As I step foot at the Obelisk for the last time, this moment marks the culmination of my mission. With the guidance of Commander Hackett, I’ll fix the Obelisk and calibrate those two swords he entrusted me with, making them ready to wield. Wrapping up this quest by chatting with Commander Hackett at the Town Gate will see one of the swords return to him, but my efforts won’t go unrewarded – I’ll pocket a substantial 10,600 Guard experience points, providing a significant leg-up in my pursuit of level 60.
