Build-a-Bear Reveals Ponyta Pokemon Plush

Pokemon and Build-a-Bear are teaming up again! Now, Pokemon trainers can buy a new Ponyta plushie. Each Ponyta comes with a little sleeper, so Pokemon fans who want one should get it quickly before they sell out.

Ponyta, often called the Fire Horse Pokémon, was introduced in the original Pokémon Red and Blue games as one of the first Fire-type Pokémon. It’s easily recognized by its cream-colored body and fiery mane, and is naturally very fast. Ponyta evolves into Rapidash at level 40, becoming a powerful physical attacker. In Pokémon Sword and Shield, Ponyta and Rapidash received new forms specific to the Galarian region. These Galarian forms are Psychic-type Pokémon, with Galarian Rapidash also possessing the Fairy-type. Both the original Ponyta and its Galarian variant have remained consistently popular with fans.

Ponyta Is Now Available Through Build-a-Bear

As a Pokémon fan, I’m so excited that Build-a-Bear has released a Ponyta plush! After the Litten release a few months ago, I was hoping they’d add more Fire-types, and here it is! You can order it now on the Build-a-Bear website for $59.50, plus tax and shipping. Shipping starts around $10 and can take a week or two. The plush is really cute and comes with a little blue sleeper, which is a nice touch. They even included a sound chip with five different Ponyta sounds from the anime – you activate it by pressing its hoof! It’s about 14 inches tall, so it’s a pretty good size – much smaller than its in-game size of almost three and a half feet, of course, but perfect for cuddling!

There are a few things to know before you buy the new Pokemon plush. The Ponyta plush comes pre-stuffed, and you can’t add or change the stuffing yourself. It’s only available online at the Build-a-Bear website – you won’t find it in any stores. Also, Pokemon items from Build-a-Bear are sold as special bundles and can’t be used with other sales or coupons.

The new Ponyta plush is the first Pokémon from the original Kanto region to be released at Build-a-Bear in over five months – the last was a large Gengar bundle. That Gengar plush cost a hefty $149, almost three times the price of the new Ponyta. When the Gengar plush arrived, it was joined by a Wooloo plush. Currently, Build-a-Bear still has a variety of Pokémon items available online, so fans can browse and find their favorites.

Ponyta’s Build-a-Bear Debut Comes at a Good Time

Considering that first-generation Pokémon like Cubone are already available at Build-a-Bear, it’s no surprise to see Ponyta added to their selection. The Ponyta plush costs $59.50, which is only 50 cents less than the Eevee bundle and $14.50 cheaper than the Cubone plush. This makes the new Ponyta doll one of the most affordable Pokémon plush toys currently available on the Build-a-Bear website.

Ponyta’s arrival at Build-a-Bear is perfectly timed for Pokémon fans! This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, and Pokémon is already increasing its presence on social media with special promotions. With Pokémon Day coming up on February 27th, fans are eager to learn more about the next major Pokémon games. So far, The Pokémon Company has announced that Pokémon Champions and Pokémon Pokopia will be released in 2026, but it remains to be seen what other exciting plans Pokémon has in store to make this anniversary year a huge success.
