As an avid fan of manga and anime, I have had the pleasure of witnessing the incredible evolution of Bungo Stray Dogs since its debut a decade ago. With each new adaptation, spin-off, or light novel release, my anticipation builds, and my excitement knows no bounds. The announcement of Shiwasu Hoshikawa’s manga adaptation of Storm Bringer has sent me into an absolute frenzy.
Having thoroughly enjoyed Hoshikawa’s work on Bungo Stray Dogs: Dazai, Chuuya, Age Fifteen, I have no doubt that this new installment will be nothing short of extraordinary. The complex relationships and high-stakes intrigue promised in Storm Bringer are right up my alley, and the addition of a European detective named Adam adds an exciting new layer to the narrative.
Moreover, the fact that this story takes place after the “Arahabaki Incident” and one year after Chuuya Nakahara’s induction into the Port Mafia makes it even more intriguing for someone like me who has been following the series closely since its inception. I can’t wait to see how Hoshikawa brings this captivating story to life, and I have no doubt that Storm Bringer will continue Bungo Stray Dogs’ legacy as one of the best manga out there.
To top it all off, I can’t help but chuckle at the thought of how much my fellow fans and I will be eagerly awaiting each new chapter, just like we did when we were younger and had to wait for our favorite comic books to arrive at the local newsstand. Good times never change!
The upcoming February 2025 edition of Kadokawa’s Monthly Shōnen Ace has confirmed a manga version of “Bungo Stray Dogs: Storm Bringer”, the eighth novel in the well-known series by Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa. Starting from the next issue on January 24, this adaptation will be led by Shiwasu Hoshikawa, a creator already recognized within the franchise’s fanbase.
In regards to the renowned work they’ve done on “Bungo Stray Dogs: Dazai, Chuuya, Age Fifteen”, Hoshikawa assures an innovative yet loyal adaptation for this exciting continuation.
The Legacy of Shiwasu Hoshikawa in the Bungō Stray Dogs Universe
In the wake of the “Arahabaki Incident” and a year following Chuuya Nakahara’s enrollment into the Port Mafia, “Storm Bringer” dives deep into intricate relationships and intense plot twists. The arrival of a European detective named Adam, tasked with shielding Chuuya from the deadly Paul Verlaine—who claims to be Chuuya’s brother—sets the stage for an action-packed narrative brimming with suspense, surprises, and intense fights. That’s why “Storm Bringer” has earned its reputation as one of the top light novels in the “Bungo Stray Dogs” series.
Expanding the Bungō Stray Dogs Multiverse
Ever since it first appeared in Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine back in 2012, the phenomenon known as Bungō Stray Dogs has flourished across various media platforms. Not only does it include the original manga and light novels, but it also features numerous anime seasons, a full-length movie, and several spinoffs that have captivated audiences globally. The series is celebrated for its distinctive mix of literary allusions, captivating plotlines, and iconic characters that linger in the memory.
The latest version of the manga emphasizes its lasting appeal, following closely behind the successful fifth season of the anime that ended in September 2023.
