Cache is Returning to Counter-Strike, But Only Once Valve Approves It for CS2

As a thrilled enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the beloved map Cache is making a comeback in Counter-Strike, having been reimagined for CS2. However, it needs Valve’s seal of approval before we can all dive back into the action once more. After a long wait of over half a decade, Cache is finally returning to our gaming screens!

FMPONE Completes the Cache Remake for CS2

As I, an avid gamer, excitedly announce my comeback, I’m Shawn “FMPONE” Snelling, one of the original creators of the iconic map, Cache, in the world-renowned game Counter-Strike. Today, I officially confirmed the return of this beloved map on a platform that once went by Twitter, sharing a few sneak peeks and even providing a link to the official file on Steam Community workshop. Unfortunately, it appears the link is currently out of order. Can’t wait for us all to dive back into the action on Cache!

FMPONE mentions that this is due to “needing to give it his approval first,” expressing his optimism about a swift approval process. Several professional players and content creators are already excited about the upcoming return of the map, with North America-based streamer Erik “fl0m” Flom urging Valve to “get moving” and approve the map as soon as possible.

Cache, a map featured in the competitive play and tournaments’ balanced map pool, has been absent for more than five years now. Its last significant appearance was at IEM Katowice 2019, before Vertigo took its place ahead of the StarLadder Berlin Major that year. Cache is well-known for hosting some memorable moments in Counter-Strike, such as Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev’s legendary 1v2 falling/no-scope AWP shot clutch, and the infamous streamer xQc’s mishap, often considered one of the worst CS:GO highlights ever.

Cache is expected to become playable quite soon, but it won’t be featured at the upcoming BLAST.tv Austin Major. It might take some time before it returns to the Active Duty map rotation, given that the pool has recently been updated with a new version of another beloved classic, Train.
