During the Opening Night Live stream event at Gamescom 2024 held on August 20, 2024, there was a comprehensive demonstration of one mission from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s single-player campaign.

Even though there’s still a bit of time left before Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is released on October 25, quite a lot about it has been unveiled already, some of it unintentionally. For instance, in August, a large-scale leak spilled footage, images, and data from almost every part of the game, even parts of the Black Ops 6 campaign. Despite these unexpected disclosures, Microsoft and Activision continue to plan their official reveals, aiming to keep fans engaged as they build anticipation for the upcoming Call of Duty series addition.

During Gamescom 2024’s kickoff, we got a sneak peek at the latest developments in the single-player campaign, specifically a walkthrough for the mission titled “Most Wanted.” This mission is set to feature players and their allies trying to steal sensitive data from an American politician during a bustling fundraiser, with the ultimate goal of apprehending the returning character Russell Adler from Black Ops Cold War.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Campaign Playthrough Shows Off Multiple Approaches

Unlike the usual action-packed storylines commonly associated with Call of Duty missions, the “Most Wanted” campaign in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 begins with a stealthy infiltration. This aligns with the spy-thriller theme of the game. The mission is set in 1991 and involves the player sneaking into a charity event for a real-life U.S. Presidential candidate, Bill Clinton. The goal is to covertly acquire a retinal scan from a U.S. Senator, use it to access a secret underground facility beneath the building, and rescue Adler. This mission showcases various strategies the player can employ to accomplish the task, including confronting the senator physically or presenting him with compromising material like an incriminating videotape.

The final stage of the game finds players infiltrating a secret facility run by the enigmatic group “Pantheon,” pivotal to the storyline of Black Ops 6. Throughout this phase, players are given the option of a stealthy or overt strategy. Remarkably, during the rescue mission, Adler hints at the long-standing character from previous Black Ops games, Frank Woods, who is also present in Black Ops 6. The operation unfolds in a fashion reminiscent of Call of Duty, showcasing some innovative tools such as a disruptor grenade that acts like a stun gun and an explosive homing knife. The game ends with a high-speed motorcycle chase through bustling city streets under the cover of night.

It appears that Black Ops 6 is generating excitement among fans of the beloved Call of Duty spinoff, primarily due to its promise of an immersive and rich single-player narrative. The move to the 1990s setting will offer players a chance to utilize contemporary firearms, while maintaining the historically grounded aspects that define the Black Ops narratives.
