Players of Call of Duty: Black Oops express dissatisfaction towards the game’s Prestige system, particularly requesting Treyarch Studios to exclude the resetting of player-earned emotes and operator skins with each Prestige level. In Call of Duty, the Prestige system was appreciated by fans in Black Ops 6 for its return, enabling players to climb the ranks and restart at level 55 to achieve the next Prestige. However, some fans feel that certain resets are redundant.
Following numerous years of revamped progression mechanics, Black Ops 6 has reinstated the traditional Call of Duty Prestige feature. Originally, Modern Warfare’s 2019 remake was responsible for a controversial alteration to the game’s Prestige system, replacing it with a seasonal leveling system accompanying each significant content update. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Players Unhappy With Prestige Resets
As a dedicated fan, deciding whether or not to Prestige in Black Ops 6 can be quite a conundrum, given that it sends players back to square one with their weapons and equipment once again locked. However, what seems to truly ruffle feathers among the gaming community is the fact that operator skins and emotes get reset each time a player achieves a new Prestige. While these items aren’t technically locked like weapons, every new Prestige forces players to re-select their preferred operator skin and emotes as they are both set back to default options. The outcry from the community is growing louder, with Reddit user Nincompoop221 expressing frustration that there is “no reason on this earth” for Prestiging to wipe out emotes and operators.
It seems uncertain whether Treyarch deliberately reset the operator skins and emotes in Black Ops 6 or if this is a problem that’s yet to be fixed, but players are clearly upset about it. Users like Trashboat77 have expressed annoyance over the weapon loadouts being reset, but find some sense in it. However, they feel there’s no justification for Prestiging to reset operator skins and emotes. Similarly, ReserveSpecific2128 shared his agreement, stating that GobbleGum packs also get reset when prestiging, which he dislikes because he has to repeat everything each time he prestiges. He questions why they designed it to reset every time someone prestiges, finding it frustrating.
If the pesky feature in Prestige is actually a glitch or if Treyarch acknowledges the feedback from the gaming community, there’s a possibility that it could be altered in an upcoming update for Black Ops 6.
