Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Campaign Proves Variety is The Spice of Life

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Campaign Proves Variety is The Spice of Life

As someone who has been a dedicated fan of the Call of Duty series since the early days, I must say that the campaigns have always held a special place in my heart, reminding me of countless hours spent immersed in gripping stories and intense action sequences. However, it’s undeniable that the multiplayer aspect has taken center stage in recent years, leaving many campaign modes feeling like an afterthought.

Initially, the single-player campaign was the main attraction in early versions of “Call of Duty”. However, the arrival of the revolutionary multiplayer mode in “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare” caused a significant change in direction for the series. This shift progressively made the campaigns less prominent due to the immense appeal of its multiplayer counterpart. Even though developers continue to invest considerable resources into crafting “Call of Duty” campaigns, they often fail to leave a lasting impact post-launch. However, this should not be the case for “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6”, as its campaign deserves equal attention and appreciation.

Instead of last year’s version, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 presents a robust, full-fledged campaign. Although its narrative might unravel slightly under close examination, the intrigue embedded within Black Ops 6’s storyline serves as a compelling reason for players to finish it, and the game’s espionage setting continues to feel innovative following its debut in Black Ops Cold War. However, what truly sets Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 apart is the diversity of its campaign, with each mission offering a unique blend of visuals and gameplay that sets it apart from its predecessors.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Campaign Is Incredibly Varied

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Campaign Is a Globe-Trotting Adventure

In the annals of Call of Duty, some of the most exceptional campaigns have been immersive globe-trotting journeys, where players traverse fresh corners of the world in each mission. This setup has frequently granted ample room for diversity when it comes to landscape and artistic style, with every new destination presenting a unique blend of architecture and scenery.

In the game known as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the storyline adheres closely to the traditional Call of Duty format, transporting players across various global locations over the span of its 11 missions. The journey begins in a former KGB hideout in Bulgaria, then moves to an undercover CIA research facility hidden in Kentucky, followed by the frozen remnants of Vorkuta, and finally into the deserts of Iraq. Each mission in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 presents a unique setting, with visually striking differences between them, lending each one its own individual character.

In Black Ops 6, although some missions share the same setting, they are visually designed to create unique tones and identities for each mission. For example, ‘Hunting Season’ and ‘The Cradle’, both set in Iraq, have distinct visual styles that make them stand out from each other. ‘Hunting Season’ takes place in a desert environment, while ‘The Cradle’ is set within one of Saddam Hussein’s lavish palaces.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Campaign Is Always Switching Up Its Gameplay

A key complaint about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s campaign last year, apart from its shortness, was its monotonous gameplay. While the developers promised that the new Open Combat missions would break the traditional shoot-and-run pattern, they ended up feeling like a regression for the series. These missions lacked substantial story elements or the thrilling action sequences that are characteristic of the campaign mode in this franchise, and offered limited variation in gameplay.

In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the campaign breaks free from previous criticisms by regularly offering fresh mechanics or thrilling set pieces to keep gameplay engaging. Players can expect traditional gunfights, heart-pounding vehicle pursuits, turret sections, and stealth sequences, with certain missions even transitioning between these styles multiple times. The campaign of Black Ops 6 never lags in excitement, which was not the case for its predecessor from last year.
