As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent in the Call of Duty universe, I can’t help but feel a sense of déjà vu when it comes to the Double XP events in Black Ops 6. The latest Christmas event was supposed to be a festive treat for us players, but instead, it seems like Treyarch has served us a lump of coal yet again.
Players believe that the most recent Double XP event in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone isn’t living up to the promised XP rates by Treyarch. This has been an issue with several different Double XP events for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and it seems that this problem is ongoing.
Ever since the debut of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6”, developer Treyarch has been frequently hosting Double XP events for the game. One event concludes, another swiftly follows, making them a regular occurrence now. This has stirred up some debate within the community, with some players expressing concerns about their frequency this time around. In contrast to earlier times when these events happened only once or twice during a game’s cycle, that trend is history now. It’s clear why Treyarch opted for this approach given its impact on player engagement; however, it’s also understandable why some players might feel overwhelmed by their frequency.
CharlieINTEL’s tweet notes that the Christmas Double XP event in Black Ops 6 and Warzone doesn’t seem to provide a 2x XP boost for players, as those using a 2XP token appear to be earning more XP than those on standard Double XP. This lends credence to the claims made by several gamers who responded to CharlieINTEL, stating they too have experienced this issue, with some claiming the rate is as low as 1.2x XP. However, it’s worth mentioning that not every Black Ops 6 player seems to be affected, as some players reported receiving the full 2x XP rates.
Black Ops 6 and Warzone Double XP Event Isn’t Giving 2x XP to Some Players
This isn’t the first time this problem has reared its head. Gamers have been complaining about the XP rates not being right as early as Black Ops 6‘s first Double XP event, and it seems as though Treyarch has not yet addressed the issue. It’s unclear what is causing the problem, but hopefully, it’s not something that persists throughout the entire year, as given current rates, there are sure to be plenty more Black Ops 6 Double XP events throughout 2025.
Regardless of whether you get double XP or not, players of Black Ops 6 have plenty to anticipate in the year 2025. The exciting news is that a collaboration between Call of Duty and Squid Game is set to launch on January 3. This partnership will introduce fresh Operator skins, weapon blueprints, and additional content inspired by the popular Netflix series, Squid Game. Rest assured, Treyarch has made sure there’s no content shortage in Black Ops 6, so it’s unlikely this trend will change in 2025.
