As a seasoned gamer with memories of countless hours spent playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MW2), I can confidently say that the recent surge in popularity of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is a welcome development. The anticipation for the H2M Mod, which promises to revive the classic MW2 multiplayer experience with a modern twist, has me excited like a kid on Christmas Eve.

Even though it’s been over eight years since its initial launch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is seeing an unexpected spike in popularity and interaction. This renewed interest in Modern Warfare Remastered occurred right before the release of a much-anticipated mod, which was created using Remastered as its foundation.

As we speak, it’s been around 17 years since the debut of “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare” in 2007 on both PS3 and Xbox 360. Since then, numerous “Call of Duty” games have hit the market, but its influence remains undeniable. It seems to have significantly transformed online multiplayer gaming for years to come. This impact was affirmed when “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered” was released in 2016, reviving the game’s iconic multiplayer mode. However, fans had mixed feelings about the 2020 release of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered”, which only included the game’s single-player campaign.

That disappointment in the lack of a viable version of Modern Warfare 2‘s multiplayer is the sentiment that propels the recent resurgence of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. The sudden surge, which has pushed the game back into the top ranks of the Steam Top Selling charts, arrives in anticipation of the August 16, 2024 launch of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered H2M Mod, a major mod for recreates Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. Popular streamers and Call of Duty players like FaZe Clan’s Scope posted gameplay clips and videos ahead of the mod’s release, getting fans excited about the return of the originally canceled Modern Warfare 2 Remastered multiplayer.

Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Multiplayer Revived Through H2M Mod

The creators claim that the H2M Mod is constructed over Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, essentially re-creating the multiplayer modes and content from Modern Warfare 2, plus some fresh additions. Unlike a prior mod designed to reinstate Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer using Black Ops 3, H2M Mod is said to more closely resemble the original experience because it’s based on Modern Warfare Remastered, an officially developed game sharing the same foundational elements.

The developers of H2M Mod assure players that they’ll implement a progression system akin to the one in the original Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, but with modern twists. Expect to find all the traditional Modern Warfare 2 camouflages, plus some fresh ones and animated versions. You’ll also see familiar calling cards, emblems from Modern Warfare 2, as well as new additions. H2M Mod will keep the original maps from both Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare Remastered, and also introduce several custom maps designed based on the remastered campaign.

As a dedicated Call of Duty gamer, I can’t help but get excited about the days ahead. The highly anticipated H2M mod is set to drop, offering a nostalgic taste of old-school CoD, right before the launch of the upcoming Black Ops 6.
