Call of Duty: Warzone Restricts Use of COR-45 Handgun

Summary

  • The Call of Duty: Warzone developers have restricted the COR-45 handgun, likely due to issues with the weapon.
  • Attachment and blueprint glitches caused the COR-45 handgun to become an overpowered, fast-firing SMG.
  • Players aren’t happy due to the weapon’s restriction seemingly being prioritized over Warzone’s cheating problems.

As a seasoned Warzone gamer with countless hours under my belt and a digital arsenal that would put the average soldier to shame, I must say, I find myself at odds with the recent decision to restrict the COR-45 handgun from our gaming arsenal.

Developers of Call of Duty: Warzone have limited the usage of the commonly favored COR-45 handgun, a move that doesn’t seem to sit well with the community. This weapon has been among the most powerful in Call of Duty: Warzone’s meta during Season 1, largely due to specific attachments and blueprints.

The combined update for Black Ops 6 and Warzone, dubbed Season 1 Reloaded, went live on December 5th, introducing a multitude of new weapons, game modes, and equipment across both titles. This season also brought several holiday-themed events and modes such as Holiday Rush Quads and Slay Ride Resurgence in Warzone. During the festive Archie’s Festival Frenzy event, players can collect Jolly Archies to unlock exclusive items and cosmetics. However, the current meta in Season 1 Reloaded has been less than ideal as the COR-45 handgun has become incredibly powerful and widely used.

In the game “Warzone”, as announced by the Call of Duty Updates Twitter account, the use of the COR-45 handgun is currently prohibited until further notice. This means that the COR-45 can no longer be employed as a secondary weapon in “Warzone”. At this time, it’s uncertain when the COR-45 will become available again. The reason for this decision appears to be related to the weapon’s overpowered status in the current game environment and issues with the Cork and Screw blueprint and the XRK IP-V2 Conversion Kit. By removing attachments from the blueprint and adding the XRK Tactical Stock, the COR-45 could be transformed into a rapid-fire SMG that inflicts high damage, making it capable of challenging some of “Warzone’s” strongest weapons with a quick time-to-kill (TTK). Therefore, the weapon has been restricted while developers work on a possible solution to these issues.

Call of Duty: Warzone Developers Restrict the COR-45 Handgun for the Foreseeable Future

Despite the restriction aiming for fairness in Warzone, there’s a noticeable discontent among Twitter users regarding Raven Software focusing on this matter at present. Some players have been dissatisfied with how the COR-45 handgun was handled earlier in the year, while others are frustrated about the escalating cheating issue in Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Additionally, some players seem to be worried that the Warzone developers might be working over the holidays as well.

Back in August 2024, a similar issue occurred with the XRK IP-V2 Conversion Kit for the COR-45 handgun in Warzone. This bug enabled players to use both the akimbo attachment and the Conversion Kit at the same time on the COR-45, resulting in one of the quickest Time-to-Kill (TTK) rates ever seen in the game. As soon as developers became aware of this glitch, they quickly released a patch to fix it because the bug spread rapidly across social media platforms.
