Call of Duty Warzone Update Removes Riot Shield

As a seasoned Call of Duty gamer with years of gaming experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia mixed with confusion upon learning about the absence of the riot shield in Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 1. The riot shield was a staple in Modern Warfare 2, and its sudden disappearance has left many players, including myself, scratching our heads.

The first season of Black Ops 6 and Warzone has been launched for Call of Duty enthusiasts, yet it feels a tad incomplete.

Players of Warzone discovered an unexpected opening in their weapon inventory resembling a riot shield, sparking a wave of excitement and jubilation across social media platforms.

In a fast-paced shooting game where hitting targets and swift reactions are key, finding out that the “eliminate opponent” button doesn’t actually work as intended was quite vexing for some players. On the contrary, others appreciated the resilience introduced by the riot shield, but it appears the creators at Treyarch might have other strategies in mind.

As a devoted player, I must admit that it’s quite puzzling and disappointing to find that the riot shield is nowhere to be found in the game, not even mentioned in the official patch notes. Usually, when something as anticipated as the removal of key content is planned, it’s clearly noted here for transparency.

According to what was mentioned on GameSpot, there’s a chance that the riot shield may have been inadvertently left out instead of intentionally taken away. There’s a likelihood it might reappear in the world of Call of Duty once again.

However, if you find yourself leaning towards a more secretive perspective, this gap in information might intentionally be part of the plan. This way, if the developers’ attempt to break through the shield wasn’t met with the desired response, they could casually say, “Oh, we made a mistake,” covering up their operation that didn’t go as planned.

Regardless of what may or may not have been forgotten, Modern Warfare 2’s riot shield is not in Call of Duty: Warzone right now.

What Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 Actually Changed

Due to the latest upgrade, the game has expanded significantly, now taking up an impressive 90GB of storage space. However, simply removing items doesn’t seem sufficient to address this substantial increase.

What makes the difference is a whole new map inspired by Nuketown – just at the larger scale Warzone demands.

This map, Area 99, comes along with two returning maps – Urzikstan and Rebirth Island.

Here are four familiar gameplay modes, a fresh advancement structure, customizable weapon skins, and improved movement mechanics that align more closely with Black Ops 6 – it’s nothing short of significant.

Just received the latest update and I’ve been diving headfirst into the fresh content! No more riot shields here, so it’s a mix of excitement and apprehension as we navigate this new landscape. Here’s hoping it sticks around for some time, considering its absence might not have been intentional.
