As one of his dying requests, Heiter asked Frieren to accept Fern as her apprentice. Skeptical about the arrangement due to potential complications and danger, she declined. To persuade Frieren, Heiter devised a plan, posing a riddle about immortality in a book for her to solve. For the next six years, Frieren worked diligently on solving the mystery while simultaneously teaching Fern during her spare time. As Heiter neared his end, he managed to convince Freieren to bring Fern along with her, now that she had become an accomplished mage who wouldn’t hinder her progress.
