Hytale has launched in early access. While it shares some things in common with Minecraft, it also has unique features, like different ways to create windows and obtain glass.
Hypixel Studios’ game offers a lot to explore, but players accustomed to Minecraft might initially struggle to unlearn those habits and master the new gameplay features.
This TopMob guide simplifies understanding glass in Hytale and explains how to create windows.
Can You Make Glass in Hytale?

While Hytale allows you to craft items made of Glass, it doesn’t let you build blocks or panes of Glass in the same way as Minecraft.
In Minecraft, you can make Glass Bottles by collecting sand and smelting it in a furnace. However, these bottles aren’t the same as glass panes – you can’t use them to create windows or openings in your walls to let light in.
In Hytale, working with glass is a completely different process than in Minecraft, but it’s actually easier.
How to Make Windows in Hytale
You can make windows in Hytale by using Stone or Wood blocks and the Builder’s Workbench. The Workbench displays all the different items you can create from those blocks.
Using a Stone or Wood block, you can easily select items like windows, doors, stairs, and trapdoors without needing to carefully arrange them in a crafting grid. This simplifies the building process, letting you design and finish your base much faster than in traditional Minecraft.
The kind of windows you can build depends on the materials you use – stone or wood – and there’s quite a bit of variety. For example, Marble Cobblestone makes bright, ornate windows, while Softwood Planks create simpler, rougher ones. It’s a good idea to collect different materials so you can choose the style you prefer, since some window designs don’t even include glass.
While you can use many stone blocks to customize windows, some types aren’t available. Specifically, regular Cobblestone, Basalt Cobblestone, and Volcanic Cobblestone don’t have window designs when you choose them in the Builder’s Workbench.
