As a seasoned RPG enthusiast with countless hours spent honing my skills in games like Dark Souls, Witchfire has certainly piqued my interest. The prospect of six unique classes to explore is an exciting proposition that immediately brings back memories of leveling up my character in the Souls series. However, upon learning that I can’t switch classes within a single profile, I was initially disappointed.
At long last, the game titled Witchfire has been released on Steam, offering gamers six distinctive character classes to select: Butcher, Hunter, Slayer, Shadow, Saint, and Penitent. Each character description details their abilities. Notably, some characters carry a caution label indicating they are not suitable for beginners. This ominous dark fantasy rogue-lite shooter draws inspiration from the Souls series, meaning players might find it beneficial to experiment with each class to determine which one aligns best with their preferred gameplay style.
In any role-playing game, it’s normal for players to be curious about how other character classes function after their initial playthrough. However, this game shares characteristics with Souls games, so switching classes isn’t as straightforward as talking to an NPC or navigating a menu. Instead, there are specific advancement hurdles that players need to grasp. Here is what the game provides for your exploration.
Can You Switch Classes in Witchfire?
In the game Witchfire, it isn’t possible to alter classes within the same account. If you find the playstyle of the Shadow class challenging due to its long-range rifle mechanics, or if you wish to explore other classes, you would need to create a fresh character and start a new profile instead.
In the game Witchfire, each player’s progress is isolated per profile. Since it follows a rogue-lite structure, any items or abilities unlocked on one character cannot be transferred to another. Consequently, when you create a new character class, it equates to beginning anew without any prior advantages.
In Witchfire, it’s important to note that the class you choose doesn’t hold ultimate significance. This is because each class can be developed and advanced to unlock every weapon, spell, upgrade, and more within the game.
What’s the Point of Changing Classes in Witchfire?
In Witchfire, just like in Dark Souls, selecting a class offers a pre-set configuration. This includes the initial choice of weapons, spells, and statistical attributes you begin with, rather than defining your character’s ultimate role or abilities.
In this game, both Slayer and Shadow boast exceptional starting stats for spellcasting. However, it’s worth noting that Slayer initially possesses a greater amount of Endurance, which plays a significant role within the game. As for Shadow, they start with more Metanoia to aid in rapid level-up progress.
As a gamer in the thrilling world of Witchfire, I found myself in possession of one of the finest weapons right from the get-go with Penitent. Yet, his stats remained unboosted. But fear not! The Ascension Shrine comes to the rescue, allowing me to level up Penitent a few times and match his Endurance and Metanoia stats with those of the Slayer and Shadow classes. Interestingly enough, both the Slayer and Shadow can also acquire Penitent’s starting weapon – an exciting perk for any player seeking versatility in their arsenal!
Ultimately, your choice of initial equipment and character attributes is crucial in Witchfire, as every class has the potential to access all content and maximize every stat.
In the game Witchfire, finding and developing new weapons and spells used to be reliant on Random Number Generator (RNG), which meant there was no certainty that the mid-range weapon you were researching would turn out to be the Hangfire hand cannon. However, after the Wailing Tower Update, a systematic order has been implemented for each weapon and spell category. Using the example of the Hangfire, it’s now the third mid-range weapon you will unlock, ensuring that you receive the Hangfire on your third research attempt. Similarly, the widely-used sniper rifle, Hailstorm, is now a guaranteed second unlock in the long-range category.
