However, when it comes to deciding which group to truly support from a roleplaying perspective, there are several important things to think about.

Should You Trust Auntie’s Choice In Outer Worlds 2?

Auntie’s Choice is a massive company that controls operations across planets. It was created when Auntie Cleo took over Spacer’s Choice by force, sometime after the first Outer Worlds game and before the events of Outer Worlds 2.

Shortly after you arrive on Paradise Island, you’ll encounter Auntie’s Choice, one of the two main groups fighting for control of this area (the other is the Protectorate). Life within Auntie’s Choice revolves completely around buying things, a harsh form of corporate business, and the idea that everyone should rely on themselves.

Life in the Protectorate demands you conform and prioritize loyalty to the Sovereign, but in return, you’re automatically provided with safety and security. While those who follow Auntie’s Choice aren’t required to revere a ruler like a god, they don’t have true freedom either.

Life at Auntie’s Choice is very competitive, with everyone focused on their own success and reporting to a manager. You’ll earn a paycheck and have freedom with how you spend it, but be prepared to rely heavily on Auntie’s Choice’s processed and expensive food.

If you’re looking for an easier time in the first part of Paradise, working with Auntie’s Choice is a good idea. However, if your character is against both oppressive governments and dishonest companies, you might prefer to reach the Vox Relay without their assistance and find a different route.

Should You Trust The Order of the Ascendant in Outer Worlds 2?

In Outer Worlds 2, players will encounter a major faction called the Order of the Ascendant. This unique organization is first introduced on the planet Dorado, specifically in the Golden Ridge area.

The Order of the Ascendant is essentially a religious group centered around mathematics. Its members are dedicated to solving what they call the Universal Equation, believing this will lead to the betterment of humanity. They believe mathematics can actually foresee the future, and therefore, their society relies on predictions made by specially gifted mathematicians called Seers to guide all their choices.

The Order of the Ascendant initially seems harmless. Their leaders, though a bit clumsy in their explanations, attempt to simplify complicated math for the general public. There’s no obvious evidence of wrongdoing within the group, and their claims that the Universal Equation can foresee the future seem, at first glance, to hold some truth.

Despite their advanced knowledge, this society has troubling flaws. They depend on data so much that they often overlook the human side of things. Because people are so devoted to a single, all-encompassing formula, they rarely challenge authority, even when orders are illogical – a prime example being the unnecessary Exclusion Zone within the refugee camp on Golden Ridge.

When you arrive at Golden Ridge, you’ll see a Zyranium bomb, launched by the Order, destroy a nearby town run by Auntie’s Choice. At first, it seems like this attack was a mistake, not an official act, as the Order and Auntie’s Choice were supposed to be at peace. As you investigate the events at Golden Ridge, you’ll soon decide for yourself if you can trust the Order of the Ascendant.
