As a long-time fan of Capcom and the Monster Hunter series, I was excitedly looking forward to the release of Monster Hunter Wilds on my Nintendo Switch. The portability of the device has always been a major selling point for me, allowing me to play my favorite games on the go. However, recent news about Capcom’s plans to prioritize high-tech platforms like PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for Monster Hunter Wilds has left me feeling disappointed.
Before Monster Hunter Wilds is set to debut in 2025, Capcom was questioned about bringing the game to the Nintendo Switch. However, it looks like Capcom has no intentions of making Monster Hunter Wilds available on this console at launch. Monster Hunter Wilds aspires to be a standout title in the cherished action-adventure series, and Capcom seems determined to unveil the game exclusively on advanced platforms initially.
As a longtime fan of Capcom games, I’ve been excited to see some of my old favorites make their way to the Nintendo Switch. Games like “Mega Man 11” and “Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection” have received positive feedback from fans, including myself. However, when it comes to Capcom’s newer AAA titles, I’ve been left feeling a bit disappointed.
At the most recent Capcom shareholders gathering, a query emerged concerning the potential availability of Monster Hunter Wilds beyond PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, specifically on portable systems such as the Nintendo Switch. Capcom indicated that their goal is to showcase the game’s world in its entirety and maximize the usage of the latest technology. Consequently, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC are currently the only platforms with the necessary capabilities to deliver this concept. Therefore, it appears that Capcom does not intend to bring Monster Hunter Wilds to the Switch or other portable devices at launch, although they have not definitively excluded any systems. The status of other Capcom projects in development regarding the Switch remains uncertain; Nintendo enthusiasts may need to explore alternative platforms if they wish to play Monster Hunter Wilds upon release.
Monster Hunter Wilds Will Not Launch On Nintendo Switch
Capcom is prioritizing advanced platforms for the release of “Monster Hunter Wilds,” leaving some Nintendo Switch users feeling concerned about its limited hardware capabilities. Although the console performs well with most first-party Nintendo games, other big releases have had issues running smoothly on the handheld device. Cloud gaming services have helped bring some larger titles to the Switch, but users have expressed disappointment over the subpar online server support. The rumors of an upgraded Nintendo Switch successor have given fans hope that popular AAA games may eventually grace a more powerful portable console. For now, it remains uncertain if major releases like “Monster Hunter Wilds” will be launch titles on future Nintendo handheld systems.
It’s not unexpected that various handheld gaming systems still trail behind their more robust console and computer equivalents in terms of power. Some gamers are content with the portability advantage, even if it means sacrificing performance. However, others ponder whether popular titles like Monster Hunter Wilds will flourish on portable devices or if creators will consistently focus on top technologies instead.
