As a dedicated Dead Rising fan since its inception back in 2006, I can’t help but feel like Christmas has come early this year! Capcom’s announcement of their plans to expand the Dead Rising franchise is music to my zombie-slaying ears. I remember the thrill of the original game, and with the remaster coming up, I can’t wait to experience it all over again on my shiny new console.

Capcom has delighted fans of the Dead Rising series by expressing plans to develop more games and remakes following the launch of the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. After a brief hiatus since 2016, it seems that Capcom is working on reviving the Dead Rising franchise, with a fresh remaster set for release in September.

Fans of the “Dead Rising” game series have been eagerly awaiting a new title for eight years now, with the last installment being “Dead Rising 4” in 2016. Unfortunately, there’s no new sequel on the horizon, but good news came in June when Capcom announced a remastered version of the original “Dead Rising”. This updated version boasts improved graphics, user-friendly enhancements, redesigned controls, a fresh user interface, and various other upgrades. The aim is to breathe new life into the 2006 classic and make it accessible on the latest generation of gaming consoles for a whole new audience.

In an interview with IGN, Capcom has revealed who will voice Frank West in the upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, and hinted at potential future growth for the Dead Rising franchise after its remastered version hits shelves. When asked about possible plans for more Dead Rising remasters or a new installment, Capcom expressed enthusiasm for further developing the series in the future. Although they didn’t provide specifics on whether this expansion would take the form of a fresh game or another remaster, they emphasized that all their current efforts are dedicated to promoting the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, which is set to launch on September 19.

Capcom Hopes to Expand Dead Rising IP

As fans eagerly await the release of the remastered version of Dead Rising, it’s clear why Capcom plans to keep supporting the franchise. However, given that the latest installment, Dead Rising 4, received mixed feedback from players, there’s a high likelihood that Capcom may focus on remaking some older games in the series. One such game is Dead Rising 2, which will turn fourteen this September.

Capcom demonstrates a knack for remastering and remaking games exceptionally well. Their latest remake was the 2023 version of Resident Evil 4, which significantly contributed to Capcom exceeding its sales records in 2023. Over the past year, they’ve also released several other blockbuster titles such as Street Fighter 6, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Exoprimal, and more. Given the success of the remakes in the Resident Evil series, it seems plausible that Capcom may follow a similar path with the Dead Rising series in the future.
