Capcom Planning to Revitalize Mega Man, Devil May Cry, Ace Attorney, and More Popular Series

Capcom recently announced it’s exploring ways to bring back some of its beloved older franchises – like Devil May Cry, Ace Attorney, and Mega Man – for current gaming systems. The company explained this is part of a strategy to attract new fans and strengthen its existing community.

Capcom has been busy sharing news with fans as they get ready to release Resident Evil Requiem in February 2026. The new survival horror game will star Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of a character from the older Resident Evil Outbreak game. Grace, an FBI agent, investigates a case that leads her to the Wrenwood Hotel – the place where her mother was killed eight years prior – and eventually to the remains of Raccoon City. A new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem will be shown at The Game Awards on December 11, 2025. While the show begins at 7:30 PM Eastern Time, fans will need to watch the entire broadcast to find out exactly when the trailer will appear.

Capcom Aims to Bring Back Fan-Favorite Classic Franchises

Capcom considers Street Fighter, Monster Hunter, and Resident Evil to be its most important game franchises, but the company is also looking to grow others. According to company president Haruhiro Tsujimoto, Capcom plans to reach more players and release new and updated versions of games from series like Devil May Cry, Mega Man, and Ace Attorney. They hope to build these franchises into major successes, similar to Street Fighter and Resident Evil, by nurturing their existing fan communities. Notably, the recent Devil May Cry anime on Netflix boosted sales of Devil May Cry 5, which has now sold over 10 million copies across all platforms.

Although there weren’t any new Ace Attorney games in 2025, Mega Man fans have something to look forward to. The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is scheduled to release in 2026. Capcom’s Tsujimoto also confirmed they’ll keep using and updating their RE Engine to support the latest graphics technology. However, there’s currently no official word on when we might see new versions or games for Ace Attorney, Devil May Cry, or other popular Capcom series, so fans will need to stay tuned for updates.

The State of Capcom and Its Current Projects

Capcom confirmed it will keep releasing games on multiple platforms, including the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This is demonstrated by the fact that Resident Evil Requiem launched on the new Nintendo console on day one. In addition to Resident Evil Requiem‘s February release, and ongoing support for games like Monster Hunter Wilds and Street Fighter 6, Capcom has even more projects planned for 2026.

Capcom’s upcoming game, Pragmata, a new science-fiction adventure, is now planned to release in 2026 after facing some development setbacks. The game takes place on a space research station and follows Hugh Williams and Diana as they work together to escape a ship overrun by dangerous robots. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced, Capcom is expected to share more information in the future.

What Other Classic Franchises Could Capcom Bring Back?

Capcom owns many popular game franchises, including Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney. However, those are just a few of the titles they have. Currently, Capcom could also revive or update classic games like Ghosts ‘n Goblins, Dino Crisis, and Breath of Fire for modern platforms.
