As a long-time Marvel fan and someone who has followed Giancarlo Esposito’s career since his days on “Breaking Bad,” I can’t help but feel a sense of pure excitement about his upcoming role in “Captain America: Brave New World.” It’s not every day that you get to see your favorite actors join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Esposito’s passion for his character is palpable.

The upcoming film titled “Captain America: Brave New World” is undergoing additional filming, approximately three months before it’s set to hit theaters. One actor has revealed that he is part of the group requiring further filming.

Giancarlo Esposito is set to join the lineup of new characters Marvel enthusiasts will encounter in the upcoming “Captain America: Brave New World”. In this film, he will portray Sidewinder, a villain within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The talented actor from “Better Call Saul” recently disclosed that he’s gearing up for additional shoots on his first MCU movie.

In a video posted on the platform formerly known as Twitter, Esposito discussed his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut which took place during a talk at Penn State University on November 7th. He expressed his enthusiasm for his character, stating, “[Sidewinder] is awesome, and I can’t wait for this project!” He also mentioned that they were reshooting for the highly anticipated superhero film. “The Captain America tale has been fantastic to be a part of, both on set and behind the camera – I’m actually going back to do a bit more. Can’t wait! I get to don the costume again,” he added. Esposito also credited his fans for helping him secure a role in the MCU, stating that it was all thanks to fan casting.

As a passionate gamer, when Marvel dropped the first trailer for Captain America: Brave New World, fans, including myself, couldn’t help but share our theories about Esposito’s character since it wasn’t named at the time. However, the actor himself debunked these speculations, stating that “no one has guessed correctly yet.” He then dropped some hints about his MCU character and shared his feelings during filming. “The character I’m playing is a badass, and that always gets me pumped. Developing this badass character in line with its original conception is an intriguing artistic challenge for me. I had an amazing time shooting it, but I’m not revealing who I’m playing,” he added. Weeks later, during an interview at the San Diego Comic-Con, Esposito finally revealed his MCU character, and this announcement took over social media. “I can now say, I can say it, wow! I can finally let it out! I am the King of the Serpent Society. I am Sidewinder!” he shared.

It’s common for big-budget Hollywood films, including Marvel productions, to undergo reshoots before their release dates. For example, movies like The Avengers (2012), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Doctor Strange (2016), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Black Widow (2021), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (2023) all had reshoots. They did this to improve aspects such as adding humor, balancing darker tones with lightheartedness, fixing pacing issues, enhancing action scenes, and increasing the presence of certain characters. For instance, Ant-Man 3 underwent reshoots to modify plot points and give Kang the Conqueror more screen time to establish him as a significant threat for future MCU phases.

Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters on February 14, 2025.
