Captain Willis Location & How to Beat in Borderlands 4
- Captain Willis is located inside the Maelstrom, which can be accessed through the Level Travel Station on the bottom right of the map, then by teleporting to the DNC Feuermann Bridge Fast Travel Station.
- Captain Willis can be farmed after the “Damnation Encroaches” final story mission for “Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned“.
- Captain Willis’s first health bar is Armor (yellow), so Corrosive and Cryo elemental damage is recommended.
- Captain Willis has a second health bar, which is Health (red), so Radiation and Shock will work wonders.
- When Captain Willis has both health bars depleted, you will need to use the grapple hook to pull off his exposed head to kill him.

Captain Willis, the final boss in Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, doesn’t offer very impressive rewards. The Maliwan shotgun you get from him can be tricky and inconsistent, meaning you’ll need a very specific character build to make it worthwhile.
The Heimdahl Heavy Ordnance isn’t bad, but with so many other great Heavy Ordnance Legendary weapons (and critical strike knives) already available, it might not be worth the effort to farm for it.
