Castlevania Getting the Resident Evil Treatment in Dead By Daylight Seems Like a No-Brainer

As a die-hard fan of both horror games and iconic video game franchises, I can’t help but feel exhilarated about the latest addition to Dead by Daylight – the Castlevania chapter. It’s not every day that we get to see Dracula and Trevor Belmont grace the same digital battlefield!

The latest addition of a “Castlevania” chapter in “Dead by Daylight” has been met with enthusiasm, and it seems reminiscent of how “Resident Evil” was integrated into the game before. By incorporating Dracula as an iconic horror figure and the renowned “Castlevania” franchise, “Dead by Daylight” has managed to combine two popular elements at once. Despite this initial success, there’s a sense that even greater possibilities lie ahead. Previously, “Dead by Daylight” had a highly successful collaboration with “Resident Evil”. Although the “Castlevania” crossover is still fresh, it shows promise in achieving similar levels of success.

In August 2024, the “Dead by Daylight” game will introduce its “Castlevania” chapter, enriching both aspects of the game. Dracula, with his complex moveset that includes shifting into various forms and the power to summon pillars of flame, becomes a new killer. On the other hand, Trevor Belmont joins the Survivors, accompanied by costumes inspired by other notable Belmonts. Moreover, outfits for Mikaela and Kate, modeled after Sypha and Maria, are also available in the shop. The “Castlevania” partnership has significantly expanded the game’s content, leaving us curious about how popular Dracula and Trevor will become among players in the future.

Castlevania Has Enough Content to Provide a Second Dead by Daylight Chapter

Dead by Daylight Could See Castlevania Heroes Like Soma or Shanoa

In the wake of the latest release of Castlevania Dominus Collection, it’s clear that there are many significant characters in the Castlevania series, with Soma Cruz from Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow being a notable example. Soma is an unusual protagonist for the series, leading not one but two games within it. Another worthy mention is Shanoa, the heroine who wields glyphs in Order of Ecclesia. Interestingly, neither Soma nor Shanoa have had costumes based on their outfits added to the shop in Dead by Daylight, which could hint that they might have a higher chance of appearing in future Castlevania games compared to other protagonists.

Castlevania Has More Potential Killers Than Just Dracula

In the span of Castlevania’s storied history, Dracula isn’t the only formidable adversary players have faced. Death, a recurring boss in the series, often serves as a significant challenge across various games. Interestingly, Death’s grim reaper aesthetic hasn’t made an appearance in Dead by Daylight as of yet. If Death is overlooked, another potential choice could be Carmilla. Throughout the franchise, Carmilla has adopted several forms, but her portrayal as a major antagonist in the Netflix series has boosted her popularity significantly. Given this, it’s plausible that Dead by Daylight might introduce another Killer from Castlevania.

It’s quite surprising to note that the main antagonist from the Resident Evil series, Albert Wesker, wasn’t introduced in Dead by Daylight until after the first chapter of Resident Evil had concluded.

Dracula’s Castle Could Become a Cool Dead by Daylight Map

Besides introducing new Killer and Survivor characters, another potential outcome from Dead by Daylight’s Castlevania collaboration is the creation of a map inspired by Dracula’s Castle. Although there is an indirect reference to a castle in the Forgotten Ruins, a dedicated map based on the classic Castlevania setting could draw inspiration from iconic scenes like the Clock Tower and Dracula’s Throne. It would be exciting to see these locations realized within the Dead by Daylight universe, and the map’s design could incorporate various references to the series’ rich history. While not every crossover in Dead by Daylight results in a new map, the Castlevania collaboration could yield an exceptional one.

In essence, the game Castlevania is rich enough in content to warrant another chapter in the style of Dead by Daylight, much like how Resident Evil did. With the looming presence of the crossover between Dead by Daylight and Five Nights at Freddy’s, it remains uncertain which other licensed chapters might appear in the game’s immediate future. Nevertheless, considering the abundance of intellectual properties available, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Castlevania were given another chance due to its potential for further expansion. At this point, Castlevania could be the second IP to receive a double-up in crossovers by Dead by Daylight.
