Catch Virizion in Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC Location & Guide

Virizion is a powerful Legendary Pokémon and one of the four members of the Swords of Justice. Originally appearing in Pokémon games from Generation 5, it’s now returning in the new Pokémon Legends Z-A expansion.

If you’re hoping to catch Virizion, the Grass/Fighting Pokémon, this guide has everything you need! We’ll show you exactly where to find it in Hyperspace Lumiose and how to start a battle.

How To Catch Virizion in Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC

This Legendary Pokémon is one of several you can encounter while randomly exploring Hyperspace Lumiose after finishing the main story of the Pokémon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC.

Okay, so after you finish all the extra stuff after the main story – specifically Hyperspace Missions 12, 13, and 14 (they’re called “The Greatest Gift”, “A Ruby-Red Legend”, and “A Sapphire-Blue Legend”) – Corbeau will finally contact you again. He’ll then explain this thing called the Special Survey, and honestly, that’s pretty much the whole point of the DLC – it’s the big endgame activity!

Once players earn 25,000 Survey Points, they can speak with Phillipe at the Rust Syndicate Office to perform a Special Scan. This scan reveals a Special Distortion – a highlighted area on the map – which comes in three types: Wild Zones (green), Battle Zones (red), or Quest Distortions (yellow). Players are specifically searching for the yellow Distortions, as these contain a chance to find any of the non-cover Legendaries.

When you find Virizion, save your game right away. This lets you try catching it repeatedly if you don’t succeed at first. It’s also best to have a Level 100 or higher Donut with the ability to catch Grass-type Pokémon.

After entering the Distortion, players will receive a message from Corbeau alerting them that Virizion is somewhere within. The question is, where can players find it?

To begin, find an alleyway blocked by rocks or sludge and clear the path using Fighting or Water-type attacks. Next, locate a staircase or Holovator to reach the rooftop. Once there, scan the area for a triangle shape formed by the surrounding buildings.

Virizion can be found eating grass in the small garden area between the buildings. Players need to be very careful not to defeat it, or they’ll have to start the encounter over.

You can either sneak up on the creature within the triangular area to capture it by surprise, or reduce its health through normal combat. The main goal is to catch it. If you fail, you can always reload your last save file. This is why it’s best to save your game before entering the Distortion, not while you’re inside it.

Virizion is a solid Pokémon, though its base stats of 550 aren’t exceptionally high for a Legendary. However, it can be a valuable asset in tough battles because it learns a diverse range of moves. To get the most out of it, focus on training its Attack and Speed stats – a 252/252 spread with 4 points in Defense is a good approach, as it excels as a fast physical attacker.

If you’re building a nature-based Pokémon, choose Jolly to boost its Speed. For its moves, consider Horn Leech, Swords Dance, Sacred Sword, and Leaf Blade. You could also teach it Zen Headbutt for wider attack coverage.
