Watching the Boruto series, I always found Shikamaru’s role as an advisor to the Seventh Hokage, Naruto, interesting. He was there to keep Naruto from acting too impulsively and potentially endangering the village. Then, after Naruto was gone, Shikamaru actually became Hokage, and honestly, it didn’t feel right.
