Outside of recent updates to Battlefield 2042, the Battlefield franchise has been noticeably quiet for a four-year span. In this absence, significant developments have taken place, notably concerning cosmetic items and in-game transactions. Though these elements remain crucial components of live-service games, players have grown weary of excessive and unrealistic skins in what they considered to be realistic first-person shooters. Consequently, Activision has acknowledged the criticism and admitted that it had veered from what sets Call of Duty apart. Furthermore, they’ve announced substantial changes for the upcoming title in the series, named Black Ops 7.
