The ever-growing selection of new games and day-one releases has kept Xbox Game Pass among the most profitable subscription services in the gaming industry. Over time, its popularity has soared, leading to significant changes. In 2023, Microsoft abolished Xbox Live Gold and introduced the widely recognized Core tier. This tier grants access to online multiplayer and a limited library of games for subscribers. The following year, they launched the Xbox Game Pass Standard, which sits between Core and Ultimate as the mid-tier option. Although these lower tiers might initially seem less profitable than Ultimate, Microsoft is planning a major shift that could alter subscribers’ perceptions.

The comeback of the series had previously been confirmed over the summer, following initial speculation back in December that discussions were underway. Recently, EA Sports’ vice president of business development, Sean O’Brien, gave USA Today an update on the current progress and stage of its return.

In this update, significant improvements have been made primarily to address issues with zone defenses such as Cover 2 and Cover 3. Specifically, adjustments were made to prevent players from retreating too far, thus closing potential open areas on the field. Additionally, three fresh international stadiums – one each in Germany, Spain, and Ireland – have been incorporated into the game for a more immersive experience.
