Elden Ring Nightreign kicks off big boy season with its first souped-up Everdark Sovereign boss, but not everyone loves their limited availability: “Not permanent? Are we for f****ng real?”

Previously this month, developer FromSoftware announced that they would be introducing more powerful iterations of the Nightlords into their upcoming co-op action RPG. The first of these enhanced enemies, known as Everdark Sovereigns, has unexpectedly appeared. According to a post from publisher Bandai Namco, Adel, Baron of the Night (from the Gaping Jaw expedition), is currently leading the charge for players who have already defeated the initial boss in this new version.

The 15 Best Strategy Games Of 2025 So Far

2025 marked the full release of Age of Darkness: Final Stand, which was my first game review for Firaxis this year. Reminiscent of They Are Billions, Age of Darkness: Final Stand is an engaging dark fantasy survival real-time strategy (RTS) with unique twists. Players find themselves in a bleak world overrun by ominous entities known as “Nightmares,” tasked with constructing and safeguarding humanity’s final strongholds against endless assaults. The game’s advanced “SwarmTech” technology allows for the simultaneous rendering of tens of thousands of enemies on screen, resulting in intense and visually striking “Death Nights” that test a player’s strategic skills. For me, the standout feature was its lengthy and strategically designed campaign, with enough surprises to keep players hooked from start to finish. Age of Darkness: Final Stand boasts straightforward yet enjoyable base-building mechanics, resource management, and a diverse cast of unique heroes. It provides a challenging single-player experience and eagerly awaited cooperative multiplayer mode.

Stellar Blade Reportedly Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

It’s unclear if Shift Up is developing a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade, as they haven’t explicitly confirmed this. However, PlayForum, who initially suggested a potential Switch 2 port, mentioned that Shift Up is considering several options internally. This doesn’t guarantee the game will come to the new console, but fans are optimistic about playing it on-the-go if it does.

Elden Ring Nightreign’s relic system could learn a lot from MMOs like World of Warcraft, which figured out pure RNG loot sucks years ago

After the usual spamming in L1 during the victory screen, you’re met with nothing but trash, stretching out to the horizon. Starting an expedition, a single relic grants you increased damage with three greataxes, enhanced throwing knife damage, and fire pots in your inventory – quite cruelly, it seems like a joke. You decide to sell off all these items, head to the shop with your murk, and try your luck at gambling. But alas, even more trash awaits you there.

Last year, Stellar Blade was launched on PlayStation 5, and its popularity led to the developers receiving a PlayStation 5 Pro and generous bonuses this year.
