February’s State of Play unexpectedly showcased 2D side-scrollers with games like God of War Sons of Sparta and Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. Looking back, the announcement of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse doesn’t seem so surprising. Now that some time has passed, it’s clear there were hints all along that a new Castlevania game was coming.
The most recent Silent Hill games (excluding the Silent Hill 2 Remake) haven’t taken place in the iconic town itself. Instead, they’ve explored new locations around the world: Germany (Silent Hill: The Short Message), Pennsylvania and Norway (Silent Hill: Ascension), and Japan (Silent Hill f). The upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall will continue this trend, being set in St. Amelia, Scotland. It’s clear Konami is intentionally expanding the series’ settings, and these diverse locations offer exciting potential for a truly terrifying addition to the Silent Hill legacy.
Compared to most big-budget games today, Kena: Bridge of Spirits feels charmingly simple. While beautiful and unique visually, its world isn’t huge or filled with lots of extra things to do – it’s not as massive or detailed as many other games. But that’s actually what makes Bridge of Spirits so special; it doesn’t try to be like games such as Assassin’s Creed or The Witcher 3. It simply focuses on bringing its own creative ideas to life. Hopefully, Kena: Scars of Kosmora will maintain this focus, and with the backing of PlayStation Studios, it might be a bigger and more ambitious game than the first one.

By revealing Dunk’s past and his relationship with Ser Arlan, the episode adds a powerful emotional depth to the Trial of Seven, making his final confrontation with Aerion Targaryen even more impactful and moving than the original story.
