Catly Developers Release Gameplay Footage Following AI Allegations

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the recent controversy surrounding Catly has piqued my interest. Having played through countless open-world adventures and seen the evolution of graphics engines, I find myself intrigued by this game’s potential.

Catly creators, SuperAuthenti, have made public the gameplay footage of their title, after accusations surfaced that an artificial intelligence was employed to create the trailer displayed at the 2024 Game Awards.

Despite SuperAuthenti consistently denying the claims, it appeared as though the developers couldn’t shake off suspicions that the game incorporated AI and web3 technologies. A public relations representative stated, “We are taken aback by such conjectures. Frankly, we don’t believe any current AI tools could generate a video of that kind. The consensus among industry experts seems to align with our view.

Since then, the developers have posted gameplay footage on their Steam page, demonstrating that the game exists and employs Unreal Engine 5.

“Catly’s game is an exciting open-world journey brimming with surprises and happiness, as you embark on this adventure alongside adorable cats! Create your ideal island, interact with diverse characters, and immerse yourself in activities like caring for your feline friends, fashion, construction, farming, racing, skiing, and many other fun-filled activities! Feel free to explore and have endless fun with your furry comrades!

It’s still unclear if the initial reveal trailer employed AI or not, but the recent gameplay trailer has sparked curiosity as to why the creators didn’t show it earlier. Perhaps there were internal doubts about the authenticity of the original reveal trailer.
