This post contains spoilers for several anime.
In recent years, Chainsaw Man has become increasingly popular. The anime’s strong first season significantly boosted manga sales. Although a second season of the anime hasn’t been released yet, fans have enjoyed the animated movie, Chainsaw Man Movie: Reze Arc.
The movie was a big success, both financially and critically, with widespread praise from both critics and viewers. It’s currently the second-highest-rated title on MyAnimeList. While fans are waiting for the second season, they’re happily following the story in the manga, which is building towards a major turning point.
Chainsaw Man Editor Hints That The Manga Might Be Ending Soon
I saw that the newest volume of Chainsaw Man, volume 23, came out in Japan on February 4th, 2026. It’s really cool because it features Pochita as the Black Chainsaw Man! It’ll be a while before it arrives in the US, though. Everyone’s talking about the cover, which is fantastic, but the comment from Shihei Lin is what’s really getting people buzzing.
For those who don’t know, Shihei Lin, the editor for Chainsaw Man, has hinted that the manga is approaching a major turning point. While his exact wording is unclear, it sounds like the story is either reaching a crucial moment or heading towards its conclusion, suggesting it might end soon. We may get more details from the editor later, but for now, fans will have to interpret his comments as they are.
Many fans are aware that the first part of Chainsaw Man has already concluded, and the manga is now releasing its second part. This new part has received varied reactions, with some readers suggesting that the author, Tatsuki Fujimoto, may be under pressure from Shonen Jump, leading to a perceived drop in quality. Others, however, strongly feel that Chainsaw Man continues to be as good as ever.
Chainsaw Man Manga Is Selling Well
The Chainsaw Man manga has become incredibly popular, surpassing 35 million copies sold and establishing itself as a top-selling series of all time. Despite not having a new season out yet, a sequel focusing on the Assassins arc is already planned. Fans can expect a high-quality adaptation as it will be produced by MAPPA, a studio known for its exceptional work and consistently delivering successful anime.
We don’t have a confirmed release date yet, but the anime might come out in late 2026 or early 2027. Also, MAPPA hasn’t said if the Assassins arc will be a movie or a typical TV series. Considering how well the recent Reze movie did, they might choose to make another movie instead of going back to a series format.
MAPPA Is Focused On Other Projects
MAPPA is currently producing two anime series airing in Winter 2026: the third season of Jujutsu Kaisen and the second season of Hell’s Paradise. Fans have eagerly awaited these new seasons, and MAPPA has met those expectations by delivering fantastic animation that’s sure to be memorable. The new season of Jujutsu Kaisen adapts the ‘Culling Game’ arc, which revolves around a dangerous and destructive event orchestrated by Kenjaku.
JJK Season 3 Is Covering The Culling Game Arc
With Gojo Satoru now sealed away after the events in Shibuya, Kenjaku is significantly closer to achieving his long-term goal. It’s been revealed that Kenjaku has been trying to evolve humanity for centuries, but past attempts have always failed. Now that his biggest obstacle is removed, he plans to target Tengen and let the Culling Game run its course. Fortunately, Choso and Yuko Tsukumo are guarding Tengen, which means Itadori Yuji, Yuta Okkotsu, Maki Zenin, Megumi Fushiguro, and Kinji Hakari will be the ones participating in the Culling Game instead.
Itadori Yuji Needs To Convince Kinji Hakari
Yuji Itadori is currently attempting to convince Kinji Hakari, a defiant third-year student at Jujutsu High who is currently suspended, to join their team. Hakari is known for being stubborn, making this a difficult task, but Yuji is equally determined and won’t give up. If they succeed in recruiting Hakari, the team will travel to a colony impacted by the Culling Game. Yuji has three objectives he needs to accomplish during this mission.
- Save Tsukimi from a cruel fate
- Free Gojo Satoru from the Prison Realm
- Stop the forcible evolution of humanity via the Culling Game
People Really Can Die, So At Least I Want People I Know To Have A Proper Death
The challenges ahead will be extremely tough, with many powerful sorcerers and cursed spirits pursuing their own agendas. These opponents will actively try to stop Itadori Yuji and his friends from succeeding.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is receiving high praise, but some fans are disappointed with the short episode count – only 12 episodes have been confirmed. This is because the season is split into two parts, and we’re currently watching the first half. It seems the entire ‘Culling Game’ storyline won’t be finished in these initial episodes, and will continue in the second part. While many fans aren’t thrilled about this, the exceptional animation quality might make up for it.
The second season of Hell’s Paradise is set to premiere in January 2026, and it’s being produced by MAPPA. Similar to Jujutsu Kaisen, there was a significant wait between seasons. The announcement of Season 2 in 2026 thrilled fans, and so far, it’s been well-received, earning a score of 8.19 on MyAnimeList. With the season still ongoing, the rating is likely to improve even further.
