Beware, major spoilers ahead for the Chainsaw Man anime and manga! The latest chapter of Chainsaw Man immediately ramps up the tension in Denji and Yoru’s final fight. After exhausting Earth’s devils, Denji transforms into Chainsaw Man and enters Hell, pulling Yoru along with him into the most dangerous place in the series. Every trip to Hell in Chainsaw Man brings unique and extreme dangers, and it won’t be long before Denji and the War Devil confront a new Primal Fear. However, Denji’s deliberate journey into Hell also creates a chance for a heartwarming reunion with a beloved character and close friend: Power.
During the climactic fight against Makima in the first part of Chainsaw Man, Power tragically sacrificed herself to save Denji, giving him all her blood and creating a contract with him. This contract requires Denji to find her again. While Denji’s motivations are often unclear, opening a path to Hell is incredibly dangerous. However, it’s the only way he can keep his promise to Power. The ongoing fight against Yoru has reached a standstill, but locating the new Blood Devil could give Denji the advantage he needs to protect Asa, end the conflict with the War Devil, and finally resolve the situation.
Chainsaw Man Chapter 225 Quietly Sets Up Power’s Comeback
Power hasn’t been a major part of the story since her death at the end of Part 1, though she’s appeared briefly in flashbacks during Part 2. Even so, her impact on Denji is still felt, and it’s clear he hasn’t forgotten her or Aki. Chapter 225 of Chainsaw Man concludes with Denji telling Yoru he wants to defeat powerful devils in Hell, as they both look out at a dark, vast landscape – the place where he believes he’ll find the Blood Devil.
As Power revealed during the Control Devil arc, devils always come back to life in Hell after being defeated, giving them a chance to be reborn on Earth. Because Denji hasn’t been able to locate the Blood Devil anywhere on Earth, she could be waiting for him in Hell. Even though Denji hasn’t actively tried to go to Hell, the circumstances are now right for them to meet.
Denji Can Finally Fulfill His Promise To Power & Find The Blood Devil In Hell
It feels like a long time has passed since Denji and Power first made their deal, and now that Part 2 of Chainsaw Man is clearly heading towards a conclusion, it seems like we’re running out of time to see everything resolved. Of course, trying to predict where Tatsuki Fujimoto will take the story is always tricky – those of us who read Fire Punch learned that lesson! But considering Part 2 is already longer than the first part, and the clear connections between Denji’s battles with Makima and Yoru, it looks like Fujimoto is planning to wrap up this storyline involving the War Devil relatively soon.
While a third part of Chainsaw Man isn’t confirmed, bringing back the character Power would be a clever way to start a new story arc. It would create a nice connection to the first two parts, as well as potentially give Denji an advantage against the War Devil. Of course, knowing the author, things could easily go wrong, leading to a fresh challenge for Denji, Asa, and Power. Whatever happens, Denji’s journey through Hell needs to lead to something significant—more than just encountering more powerful devils. The timing is perfect to bring Power back into the story.
Power’s Return Is Long Overdue
It’s natural that Chainsaw Man Part 2 hasn’t revisited many characters or plot points from the first part. With the introduction of Asa as a co-lead, there simply wasn’t room for storylines involving characters like Kishibe or for Denji to search for Power while also caring for Nayuta. It’s easy to overlook that not much time has passed since Nayuta’s death within the story. Now that Denji is clearly the main character again and Asa is no longer in control due to Yoru’s full possession, the author can finally address those long-standing unresolved plot elements.
A key rule in Chainsaw Man is that contracts must always be honored. Bringing Power back through a deal with the Blood Devil could create a lot of compelling conflict as the story of Part 2 nears its end. This would be especially true if Denji encountered the newly resurrected Control Devil and was put in a difficult position, forced to choose between Power and Nayuta. He’d have to explain his bond with Nayuta to Power, who only knows the Control Devil through her experiences with Makima. There’s also the painful possibility that the Blood Devil won’t resemble Power at all, meaning Denji would have to truly accept that his friend is gone. There’s significant storytelling potential in Power’s return, and many fans expect to see her reappear in upcoming chapters, though whether that return will be positive or negative remains to be seen.
