Beware, major spoilers ahead for Chainsaw Man Part 2! The story is reaching its climax, and the fight between Denji and Yoru is getting increasingly unpredictable. We’ve seen massive destruction, including the devastation of Michigan, and Yoru even weaponized the moon (or at least the American flag!). Denji is absorbing devils at an incredible rate, casually eliminating limbs and teeth. This level of chaos hasn’t been seen since the final battle against Makima in Part 1. Anyone familiar with Tatsuki Fujimoto’s work, like Fire Punch, knows anything can happen, but Chainsaw Man is now more unpredictable than ever.
Chapter 225 of Chainsaw Man delivered a huge surprise, comparable to the reveal of the Death Devil’s true identity last year. The fight between Denji and Yoru keeps getting more intense, leading Denji to decide he’s done fighting on Earth. He opens a gateway to Hell – a place fans haven’t seen much of since the story of the Aging Devil, and even then, it wasn’t a major focus until the Darkness Devil arc way back in Part 1. Determined to find and eat ‘real devils,’ Denji enters Hell, with Yoru following behind. The chapter ends with both characters looking out into the unknown, leaving the future uncertain. However, it’s clear Denji is after powerful devils, which could mean a confrontation with Primal Fears is coming.
Denji Drags The War Devil To Hell In Chainsaw Man Part 2’s Biggest Plow Twist Yet
It’s no surprise Pochita, as the Hero of Hell, could open pathways to Hell. However, Denji choosing to go to Hell to keep destroying concepts during his fight with the War Devil is a major turning point. Denji and Yoru have been locked in a stalemate for a while, but Denji has been gaining the upper hand by using fast, unpredictable thinking to outsmart her. He’s also deliberately eating the War Devil’s minions, essentially provoking her by erasing concepts throughout their battle.
Denji seems fed up with the constant fighting and is now deliberately taking a huge risk by going to Hell. It’s hard to say how much of this is due to Pochita’s plan to beat Yoru, or just Denji’s recklessness. This is a dangerous move, as Hell is full of incredibly powerful Devils and the deepest, most terrifying fears the characters haven’t faced yet—or have already lost to. With Nayuta gone, Denji might also encounter a new Control Devil in Hell, potentially facing two Horsemen simultaneously. While Denji is a formidable fighter on his own, unless a powerful devil emerges that forces him to work with Yoru, this trip to Hell could be disastrous.
The Darkness Devil Is A Primal Fear Strong Enough To Stop Chainsaw Man’s War Against Yoru

Whether it’s good or bad, the demons in Hell are likely too powerful for Chainsaw Man to defeat alone. The ending of Chapter 225, with Denji and Yoru looking out at a dark expanse, hints that the Darkness Devil might return. Their previous encounter with this devil was devastating – almost everyone died, and several key characters, including Aki and the Angel Devil, suffered lasting injuries like losing limbs. Makima barely managed to save them all, and nearly sacrificed herself in the process.
The Darkness Devil poses a huge threat to Denji and Yoru, potentially being unstoppable. However, this dangerous encounter might actually force them to work together, pausing their current conflict and creating a temporary alliance. This situation also offers a chance for Asa to regain control after being dominated by the War Devil for a long time. With Chainsaw Man at his strongest, a team-up with Asa/Yoru could give him the opening he needs to defeat the Darkness Devil – a surprising turn of events that would dramatically escalate the already intense endgame of Part 2.
I think bringing back the Darkness Devil would be a great move, but this is also a really good time to explore some brand new Primal Fears in Chainsaw Man. So far, we’ve only seen four – Death, Darkness, Aging, and Falling. The story defines these Primal Fears as fears everyone is born with, and I think Denji’s journey into Hell gives Fujimoto a perfect opportunity to ramp up the horror, maybe even reaching the level of intensity we saw in Fire Punch. It could really unsettle readers in a powerful way.
Chainsaw Man Part 2 Enters Its Endgame As Denji & Yoru’s Final Battle Reaches A Breaking Point
It’s hard to predict what author Fujimoto has in store, but it increasingly looks like Chainsaw Man Part 2 is heading towards its climax. With the War Devil reintroducing nuclear weapons, the looming deadline of Nostradamus’ prophecy, and Hell now wide open without a failsafe like Makima to protect Denji, the stakes are incredibly high. If Denji ends up in Hell, things could go disastrously wrong, potentially unleashing a full-scale invasion of Devils and leading to the end of humankind, just as Nostradamus foresaw.
Watching Denji and Yoru’s fight, it’s clear things can’t continue as they are. I have a feeling Chainsaw Man Chapter 226 is going to shake everything up completely. It could go in a few different directions – maybe they’ll have to team up against a bigger threat, Denji might encounter some new enemies like the Control or Blood Devils, or, honestly, they could even lose and the world could fall to the devils. The author, Fujimoto, isn’t afraid to end things tragically, and this part of the story has felt much darker than the first. I get the sense that if Denji goes back to Hell, that will likely be the beginning of the end for Chainsaw Man.
