Changes & Tweaks Borderlands 4 Needs ASAP

Borderlands 4 is proving to be a huge hit on all platforms except for the Switch 2, which is launching at a later date. While there have been a few issues, particularly for players on PC, the game is generally performing very well. This success comes just a week after the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, which is also topping the charts.

Because *Borderlands 4* is a massive open-world game, players will likely spend many hours playing it. That means Gearbox will probably address any significant or small problems with the game. Hopefully, they deliver a great experience for fans of the series.

Gathering Weapons On The Ground Is Tedious

Click All To Grab?

Few things feel as good as defeating a tough enemy or opening a treasure chest to find a pile of new weapons. It’s a rush of excitement similar to breaking open a piñata as a kid, but instead of candy, you get guns!

Okay, so I’m really enjoying *Borderlands 4*, but honestly, the looting is kinda clunky. It’s awesome watching all the guns and stuff drop when you take down enemies, but I really miss being able to just hit one button to grab everything, like in *Fallout*. It would save so much time and make the whole experience smoother. It’s fun now, but a ‘take all’ command would be a huge quality-of-life improvement, for sure.

Players Need A Way To Send Unwanted Weapons Home

Save Up Space

A common frustration for players, particularly when starting out, is running out of inventory space. While players can expand their inventory in *Borderlands 4* using SDU Tokens earned through exploration, it’s still bothersome to find valuable loot and not be able to pick it all up. Adding a warp system could help solve this problem.

I always liked being able to sell weapons right away, or stash them in my vault if I had space. Honestly, if a game from almost thirty years ago, like *Pokemon Blue*, could figure out how to warp items using Pokemon in Pokeballs, I think *Borderlands 4* can definitely handle something similar. It just makes sense!

A Better Method Of Organizing Weapons

Toggling Between Types

The menu system can be a bit clunky on consoles, though you can tweak the settings to make the cursor movement smoother. However, players can’t rearrange how items, such as weapons, are categorized.

In *Borderlands 4*, weapons are automatically sorted by the company that made them. Players can change how weapons are organized, such as grouping them by type, but these changes don’t stick when you exit the menu. It would be more convenient if players could set their preferred default sorting method.

More Fast Travel Locations

Why So Few?

Borderlands 4 offers several ways to get around, but fast travel is mostly restricted to towns and safe areas. This feels odd because the game automatically revives you at whatever checkpoint you last reached, meaning you’re often sent back to the same spot regardless.

It’s puzzling why checkpoints in open-world games aren’t also fast travel points. While limiting fast travel encourages exploration – and driving around is enjoyable – giving players the *option* of quick travel would be a welcome addition. It’s about providing choice, letting players explore at their own pace or quickly jump between locations.

Photo Mode

Confirmed, But When?

Gearbox announced in June 2025 that a Photo Mode would be added to *Borderlands 4*, but only said it would come after the game’s release. Since then, they haven’t shared any further details about when players can expect it, even as the launch date approaches.

While Borderlands 3 doesn’t currently have a Photo Mode – a feature found in the previous game – developers plan to add it. Fans can look forward to this update, and hopefully it will arrive soon. Right now, Gearbox is likely prioritizing fixing bugs, particularly on the PC version of the game.

Populate The World With Players

Go Beyond Co-Op

Since its launch in 2009, the *Borderlands* series has consistently been a top choice for players looking for great co-op experiences. The latest installment, *Borderlands 4*, takes this even further, offering the most comprehensive co-op options yet. Up to four players can team up online with easy matchmaking and crossplay support across different platforms. Plus, it still includes local splitscreen co-op – a feature that’s becoming increasingly rare in modern games.

Gearbox’s multiplayer system has some great features, but it’s not as seamless as in games like *Destiny 2* or the original *Destiny*. Those games fill their worlds with random players and make it easy to team up. With *Borderlands 4*’s large open world, it would have been good to see other players show up for events or in central areas. Hopefully, Gearbox will add this functionality in a future update or downloadable content.

Launch Missions From The Menu

Choose Your Adventure

Gearbox could further improve the multiplayer experience in a potential *Borderlands 4* by adding the ability to replay missions. This would allow players to repeatedly play through content to collect better loot and gain experience. While the matchmaking system is an improvement over *Borderlands 3*, there’s still room for enhancement.

I’m really hoping *Borderlands 4* lets us easily team up for missions like in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. In that game, you can actually search for other players who are already tackling the same quest or hunting a specific monster, which is awesome! It might take some work to change how matchmaking works in *Borderlands 4* to allow this, but it would be a fantastic addition if they could patch it in later. Being able to jump into co-op missions or find others doing the same thing would be a huge improvement!
