
Okay, so I’m playing Silent Hill f, and right from the start, it’s super clear the game is set in Japan back in the 1960s. You play as Hinako, a high school student who’s dealing with some family issues. One day, she heads out to meet her friends, and when she gets to the town of Ebisugaoka, it’s completely covered in fog and totally deserted. It’s creepy!
She eventually locates her friends, but the group is soon separated, and Hinako finds herself being pursued by monsters. This situation is familiar to Silent Hill fans-they’ve experienced similar scenarios in the games-but the new setting keeps things fresh. While the latest installment in the series introduces many welcome changes, Konami could further enhance Silent Hill f with future updates.
Manually Mark The Map
Remembering To Go Back
Occasionally, Hinako will add notes to the map to help players remember things they can’t reach yet, such as a safe-but she doesn’t always do this. It’s unpredictable, and it’s frustrating that there’s no option to add your own map markers in Silent Hill f.
Many open-world games let players place markers on the map. Even some 2D titles, such as Hollow Knight: Silksong, include a map-marking system. The Resident Evil 2 remake, and other games in the series, automatically clear the map once everything has been discovered – a feature that would also benefit Silent Hill f. Ultimately, the map could use some improvements.
Add A Mini-Map

Konami could also improve the game by adding a mini-map. Constantly opening the full map can be frustrating when players are just trying to figure out where they are. Both outdoor and indoor areas, particularly the school and the mysterious shrines, can feel like confusing mazes, especially when players are lost.
I’m honestly relieved there’s any kind of map in Silent Hill f, because you can’t always count on that in these games. Take Hell is Us, for instance – that recent action-adventure horror game? It doesn’t have a map at all. It really makes you feel lost, but sometimes it’s a bit too much, you know?
The Inventory System Needs Work
Add A Storage Container
One of the best features of the Resident Evil series is how it handles storage. While it’s not realistic that a single container could hold items from all over the place, it’s a helpful game mechanic. After all, it’s a video game, and making things easier for players is usually a good thing. Sadly, the Silent Hill games don’t have a similar storage system.
In Silent Hill f, Hinako’s inventory space can be increased by discovering Shoulder Bags. However, even with these additions, players will quickly accumulate too many items, no matter the difficulty setting. While players can sell certain items at shrines to gain Faith, it would be a significant improvement to the gameplay experience if shrines – or similar locations – offered a dedicated storage system.
Add An Extra Difficulty Tweak
Melee Weapons Shouldn’t Break


One common complaint about the highly acclaimed game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was its weapon durability system. Silent Hill f also features weapon durability, meaning weapons – everything from pipes to knives – break frequently. While toolkits can fix weapons that are almost broken, you won’t have an unlimited supply of them.
Konami might consider adding an assist feature to reduce weapon breakage, separate from the difficulty levels, or even an option to make weapons unbreakable. Currently, there’s an item called the Omamori, specifically the Spider, that slows down weapon degradation. Providing players with this item from the beginning could also be a helpful solution.
Add A Photo Mode

For the last ten years, gamers have really gotten used to being able to use photo modes in their games. It’s a fantastic feature that lets players save their best in-game experiences and have more control over the camera than simply taking a screenshot – especially on consoles like the PS5. The recent game, Borderlands 4, didn’t launch with a photo mode, but the developers at Gearbox said they would add it later. As of now, Konami hasn’t said anything specific about bringing this feature to Silent Hill f, but fans are still optimistic.
Add A Movie Gallery
Rework Your Favorite Scenes With Costumes


In addition to a photo mode, many players would also like to see Konami include a cutscene gallery. Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles recently did this, unlocking every cutscene as players advance through the story. Silent Hill f should have this feature too, perhaps unlocking it only after finishing the game.
Having the option to rewatch beloved cutscenes is a great reason to hold onto a game, whether it’s a physical copy or a digital download, and this benefits Konami as a company in the long term. While YouTube allows you to find specific scenes, it’s much more enjoyable to have a dedicated movie gallery built right into the game itself.
Enemies Should Drop Rewards
Why Else Would You Fight?
Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and many other horror games typically reward players with items dropped by defeated monsters. Silent Hill f breaks from this tradition, and combined with the game’s weapon durability system, it makes players wonder if fighting enemies is even worthwhile. When trapped in tight spaces, it’s usually best to avoid combat and run. However, if you need to search an area thoroughly, defeating enemies might be the better option.
Players could be rewarded for fighting with item drops. Considering the role-playing game features, like improving Hinako in Silent Hill f, letting players repeatedly fight enemies for resources would fit well, especially since enemies reappear randomly.
