Characters Missing From Dragon Ball Sparking Zero

Key Takeaways

  • The Dragon Ball Sparking Zero roster boasts 181 playable characters, including the iconic GT lineup.
  • Some key characters like Super 17, King Piccolo, Pikkon, and Super Saiyan Bardock are missing.
  • DLC packs are in the works to include missing characters.

As a die-hard Dragon Ball fan who’s grown up with Goku and his friends since the early days of the series, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgic longing for some of the lesser-known characters that graced our screens back then. One such character is none other than Android 8, the kindest android in the entire Dragon Ball universe!

Following numerous teases and build-up, the complete cast for the game titled “Dragon Ball Sparking Zero” has been officially revealed, and it’s absolutely astounding! The game debuts with a whopping 181 playable characters, easily outstripping the legendary roster of its predecessor, “Budokai Tenkaichi 3“. What’s more, this roster is incredibly extensive, encompassing almost every significant character from the universe of Dragon Ball, even extending to the non-canonical GT series.

In the grand scheme of Dragon Ball’s extensive cast, there are a few standout characters who seem to be absent. While it’s expected that not every character can make an appearance given the series’ rich history, some figures are so iconic that their exclusion from the game is notable. However, take heart! Additional DLC content is already being developed, suggesting that these missing heroes and villains might not keep fans waiting for much longer before they join the game.

1 Super 17

A Fan-Favorite Villain From Dragon Ball GT

In contrast to the acclaim garnered by other Dragon Ball series, Dragon Ball GT is notable for introducing some of the most captivating villains within the Dragon Ball universe. One such villain, Super 17, has earned a special place among fans. His stylish appearance and clever dialogue coupled with his intense battle against SSJ4 Goku make him an exceptional character.

It’s quite unexpected that Super 17 wasn’t initially included in Sparking Zero at its launch, considering it features many famous GT characters. His absence seems unusual indeed. Yet, given his immense popularity and the strong impact he’s left on fans, there’s a good chance he’ll be added to the game eventually – likely through additional DLC content down the line.

2 King Piccolo

Dragon Ball’s First Major Supervillain

In discussions about Dragon Ball’s most formidable antagonists, names like Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu tend to be at the forefront. Yet, King Piccolo is a character who often gets overlooked. As the original supervillain of the series, King Piccolo made an immense impact on the show’s narrative and delivered one of Goku’s most unforgettable thrashings.

Due to his iconic standing, it’s quite unexpected that he’s not participating in the game, more so since he featured in all three preceding Budokai Tenkaichi series. Given his significant part in Dragon Ball lore, excluding him from the game entirely seems like a major omission. Here’s hoping that future updates will give King Piccolo the acknowledgment he deserves and include him in the game.

3 Pikkon

An Underrated But Highly Powerful Character

Without a doubt, Pikkon is considered one of the underestimated characters from the Dragon Ball Z series. Although he made his appearance in a filler episode during the Buu Saga, he soon captured fans’ hearts with his straightforward demeanor and remarkable combat abilities. His fan base grew so much that he was given a significant role in the movie that continued after the Buu Saga, titled Fusion Reborn.

At first glance, Pikkon isn’t found among the initial roster of Sparking Zero. This absence has left fans puzzled since characters such as Janemba and Super Gogeta (Z), who co-starred with him in Fusion Reborn, are included. But let’s not get disheartened, for it’s highly probable that fresh characters will be added to the game via updates and downloadable content over time. It’s only a matter of patience before Pikkon makes his appearance as well.

4 Super Saiyan Bardock

One Of The Most Important Characters In The Series

It’s incredibly exciting for long-term Bardock fans to see his growing popularity now. Although Bardock is a key character in the Dragon Ball universe, his limited screen time in Dragon Ball Z made his significance less noticeable. Consequently, many fans didn’t fully grasp the extent of his importance in Goku’s story, and for years, he was undervalued.

In games such as FighterZ and Xenoverse 2, Bardock finally received the recognition he deserved by being granted the Super Saiyan form. This led to a significant increase in his popularity and he’s now a beloved character among fans. Although the original Bardock is present in Sparking Zero, it’s unfortunate that he didn’t get the Super Saiyan transformation initially. However, given the popularity of this form in other games, it seems inevitable that Super Saiyan Bardock will eventually be added to the roster of Sparking Zero as well.

5 Nuova & Eis Shenron

A Pair Of Terrifying Villains From Dragon Ball GT

In contrast to Omega Shenron being famously feared in Dragon Ball GT, it’s easy to underestimate how formidable Nuova and Eis Shenron were when they first appeared. These twin dragons elevated the power level of the series, making even the mighty SSJ4 Goku strain to keep up. The fierce battles between them and Goku were so brutal that he had to employ his legendary Dragon Fist technique to defeat Eis Shenron.

Fans might feel a tad disheartened to discover that neither Nuova nor Eis Shenron won’t debut in the starting roster. It’s hard not to be bummed by their absence, considering how awesome these characters are and how much they deserve a spot in the game. For the time being, fans can only keep their fingers crossed that they’ll make an appearance in one of the future DLC expansions.

6 Android 8

The Kindest Android In Dragon Ball

In the realm of Dragon Ball characters, it’s hard not to recall Android 18 and 17, but there’s another Android that stands out as possibly the most significant among them all: Android 8. Originally appearing in the original Dragon Ball series, Android 8, also known as “Eighter,” was crafted by the Red Ribbon Army for devastation. Unlike his fellow Androids, however, Eighter opted to switch roles from a destroyer to a protector instead of a combatant.

Regrettably, Eighter won’t be part of the game at its initial release. It would have been an excellent tribute to the early days of the series and a nostalgic nod to the lighter, action-packed origins of Dragon Ball if he had been included in Sparking Zero.
