Characters Who Should Be Canon In My Hero Academia

Characters Who Should Be Canon In My Hero Academia

Highlights

  • Most side content of My Hero Academia eventually becomes canon, creating a rich and integrated world for fans to explore.
  • Characters like Kashiko Sekigai and the Volcano Thieves have interesting quirks that could easily fit into the main manga.
  • Characters inspired by Horikoshi’s previous works, such as Zookeeper and Romero Fujimi, add unique elements to the franchise.

I’ve had the pleasure of encountering some truly remarkable characters in the world of My Hero Academia, and among them, there are a few that really stand out to me. One such character is Zookeeper, the young woman with an intriguing backstory and a unique Quirk that leaves quite an impression.

In the same vein as popular shonen action shows, My Hero Academia includes additional content outside of its original creator, Kohei Horikoshi‘s work, such as movies and extra anime episodes. What sets this series apart from others is that a considerable amount of this supplementary material has been incorporated into the story’s canon in various forms.

Although there are several non-canon OVAs and video games in “My Hero Academia” that haven’t been incorporated into the primary storyline, it’s unfortunate because they introduce captivating characters that could easily fit into the main comic series. Some of these standout examples include:

1 Kashiko Sekigai

A Potential Rival For Momo Yaoyorozu

  • First Appearance: My Hero Academia: Training of the Dead (OVA)

I was thoroughly impressed by the diverse cast of students in the “Training of the Dead” OVA, each with their distinct designs, quirky personalities, and special abilities. But among them all, the Class Representative, Kashiko Sekigai, left a lasting impression on me.

Kashiko exhibits strong leadership skills and high intelligence, making her an potential formidable adversary for characters such as Momo Yaoyorozu. Her stylish hero costume is noteworthy, but what sets Kashiko apart is her unique ability called Chart. Through this Quirk, she can generate holographic diagrams that enable her to identify enemies from a distance. This capability is a valuable asset for the recognized Pro Heroes within the story.

2 Volcano Thieves

A Trio Of Villains With Great Designs & Quirks

  • First Appearance: My Hero Academia: Clash! Heroes Battle (Video Game)

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve come across some truly captivating characters in the arcade video game “Clash! Heroes Battle.” Among them are three formidable villains, whom I’ve affectionately named the Volcano Thieves. Their striking presence on the screen leaves me in awe and makes me feel as if they could easily fit into the canon storyline of “My Hero Academia.” This impression is largely due to their exceptional designs and abilities that perfectly complement their menacing personas.

As a gamer, I’d say:

3 Zookeeper

Horikoshi Got Inspiration From His Previous Works

  • First Appearance: My Hero Academia: Clash! Heroes Battle (Video Game)

In the world of “My Hero Academia,” several of its characters were influenced by Kohei Horikoshi’s earlier work, “Oumagadoki Zoo.” For instance, we have Gang Orca and Uwabami. However, it seems unusual that he would create new characters based on this prior manga but only include them in a non-canonical arcade game.

In an exciting turn of events, Clash! Heroes Battle welcomed a new character named Zookeeper. This young woman was manipulated by the game’s chief adversary, resulting in her loyal allegiance. Her captivating appearance is accompanied by an intriguing ability – she can weaken opponents by cleaning them with soap. Zookeeper bears resemblance to Hana Aoi, the beloved protagonist of Oumagadoki Zoo. She would undeniably fit seamlessly into the established universe of My Hero Academia.

4 Romero Fujimi

He Has One Of The Most Creative Quirks For A Hero

  • First Appearance: My Hero Academia: Training of the Dead (OVA)

In the OVA “Training of the Dead,” Romero Fujimi makes his appearance and becomes the central character. His unique ability is referred to as the Zombie Virus. With this Quirk, Romero can emit a pink gas that converts anyone who breathes it into a zombie for a set duration. Consequently, Romero has the power to raise an army of zombies at will, albeit needing to exercise caution since he is not exempt from the effects of his own power.

At Isamu Academy High School, Romero is diligently working towards his goal of becoming a Pro Hero, despite the potentially villainous nature of his Quirk. This theme of aspiring heroes with questionable powers has been explored extensively throughout the series, with characters like Neito Monoma and Hitoshi Shinso serving as prominent examples. Including Romero in the storyline could add depth and intrigue to these narratives.

5 Curator

An Intimidating Villain That Would Be A Big Threat To The Canonical Heroes

  • First Appearance: My Hero Academia: Clash! Heroes Battle (Video Game)

In “My Hero Academia,” the series boasts an impressive roster of villains, each with captivating personas and unusual, hazardous Quirks. Among them is the intriguing antagonist referred to as Curator. His portrayal was exceptionally well-crafted and merits inclusion in the main storyline. It’s rather odd that his sole appearance occurred in the game “Clash! Heroes Battle.”

Kohei Horikoshi has a knack for crafting characters with a serious side yet possessing a goofy element, as exemplified by Curator. With an imposing appearance featuring a sleek design and a menacing demeanor, he exudes a formidable presence. However, his unique Quirk endows him with the power to transform into a Sperm Whale – an ability that might initially seem ludicrous. Yet, it grants him remarkable strength, making Curator an intriguing character worth considering for My Hero Academia’s universe. Interestingly, Curator is inspired by a character from Oumagadoki Zoo named Isana. Despite the difference in settings, Curator would seamlessly blend into the world of My Hero Academia and could potentially pose a formidable challenge to the Pro Hero Gang Orca.
