Charisma Carpenter’s Cordelia Should Rule the Buffy Reboot!

Summary

  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot may introduce new character Nova, exciting fans.
  • Charisma Carpenter open to reprising her role as Cordelia in the reboot.
  • Cordelia’s return on the Buffy reboot could add humor and familiarity to the series.

It’s been buzzing around that a new lead character called Nova might appear in the revival of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and I’m overjoyed about this return of the series. Originally airing on The WB from 1997 to 2003, “Buffy” was an exhilarating, emotional, and enjoyable journey as Buffy Summers (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) navigated her young adulthood while simultaneously saving the world and leading a somewhat ordinary life. As of now, no additional news has been released regarding the reboot, but in early February, “Variety” reported that it was nearly ready for a pilot order at Hulu.

Expressing my enthusiasm for the captivating narrative of a fresh vampire slayer navigating high school and her secret identity, I eagerly anticipate discovering more intriguing characters. Yet, I find myself longing for the return of a beloved character from the past. Remarkably, one of the main cast members from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” has hinted at the possibility of reprising their role, and I strongly believe it would be a fantastic addition to the storyline.

I Want Charisma Carpenter’s Buffy The Vampire Slayer Character Cordelia Chase To Come Back For The Reboot

As reported by Collider, Charisma Carpenter expressed her interest in reprising her role for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot during Comic Con in Indiana. She mentioned, “I certainly hope so. If I am involved, I hope it’s not just a cameo but rather something more substantial – that would be my dream.” She added, “It would be quite symbolic to receive an invitation back.

I’d delight in watching Carpenter reprise her role as Cordelia once more in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival, and I believe it would be fitting for her to make a guest appearance in an episode. Fans would undoubtedly enjoy seeing Buffy Summers, Cordelia, and school librarian/Watcher Giles (Anthony Head) share the screen together. Perhaps Buffy could seek Cordelia’s advice, drawing on her expertise from working on supernatural cases in the Angel spinoff. Since Cordelia was a minor character in the original series, there’s no need for her to return as a main cast member. However, even a single appearance would be more than enough for me.

Two primary motivations drive my desire to meet Cordelia once more. Firstly, her lively and sharp-witted personality, infused with intelligence, promises to enrich our interactions. The early seasons of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” deftly combined humor with the struggle against vampires and demons, and Cordelia’s quick comebacks, persistent irritation, and gradual understanding that popularity isn’t everything, added depth to the series. I am eager to discover how Cordelia has evolved into the person she is today.

I too believe that the revival of Buffy the Vampire Slayer won’t seem fully realized unless some familiar faces make an appearance. The idea of witnessing Cordelia alongside the new lead character, Nova, sounds intriguing. Maybe Buffy seeks out Cordelia to help her connect with or inspire Nova, as she finds it difficult to do so on her own. It’s possible that their strained relationship from season 1 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer has improved over time, and they now work together more effectively.

What Happened To Cordelia Chase On Buffy The Vampire Slayer And Angel?

In the fifth season, Cordelia departs from Buffy the Vampire Slayer series and shifts to the spin-off titled Angel. By the end of the first season of Angel, Cordelia and Buffy Summers’s insightful ally Angel (played by David Boreanaz) have established a strong partnership at Angel Investigations. It’s enjoyable to see Cordelia in the spin-off as she is a lively and humorous character who proves to be more intelligent than one might initially think.

During a conversation with Complex magazine in the year 2019, Actress Charisma Carpenter highlighted the significant role of her character Cordelia on the show “Angel.” She particularly emphasized this importance when Cordelia started experiencing visions, stating that these moments were crucial for the series.

Initially, Cordelia didn’t seem very lovable, but in the ninth episode of the first season, when she started getting visions, she became more vulnerable. This allowed us to understand her better and find her less irritating and more endearing. From then on, we saw her relationship with Angel grow and witnessed her consistent support for him.

The carpenter shared with Complex that “her visions represent her struggles which fuel her emotional development.” This perspective offers an intriguing insight into the character’s progression within the Buffy spinoff. If Cordelia were to make a cameo in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer remake, her wit and confident demeanor would certainly be a delightful addition.
