In the final episode of Chicago P.D.’s 12th season, the hazardous game played by Deputy Chief Charlie Reid (Shawn Hatosy) and Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) persists. When Chicago P.D. debuted in 2014, viewers were given a glimpse into the Intelligence Unit’s team members. Over more than eight years, these resourceful characters have proven their readiness for any challenge that comes their way. The series has skillfully incorporated secondary characters like Nicole Silver (Jules Wilcox), who leave a significant and powerful impression, while keeping the focus on the IU officers who selflessly put their lives on the line every day.
Both Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med have delivered captivating storylines this season, and now we’re eager to find out whether the Intelligence Unit will emerge victorious against Reid, or if the antagonist from season 12 will prove to be an even greater force.
How To Watch Chicago P.D. Season 12, Episode 22, “Vows”

On Wednesday, May 21st, 2025 at 10 p.m. Eastern Time, “Vows”, the 22nd episode of season 12 of Chicago P.D., will be aired on NBC. For those who can’t watch it live, the episode will be available for streaming on Peacock starting the next day, Thursday, May 22nd, 2025.
The official episode description for Chicago P.D. season 12, episode 22 reads:
As a movie buff, I’d put it like this: “Under investigation by Internal Affairs, Intelligence takes matters into my own hands to finally take down Reid. Meanwhile, Ruzek and Burgess grapple with whether to postpone their wedding due to the unsettling circumstances.
In the last episode, Voight was trying to catch Reid red-handed since he’s now aware of the truth. However, cunningly, Reid outsmarted Voight and decided to disrupt the Intelligence Unit. By the end of season 12, episode 21, Reid had Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) and Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) dismissed from their positions.
The final episode of Chicago P.D.’s season 12 carries on a grim and challenging narrative as the Intelligence Unit finds itself under scrutiny. Fans are left guessing which characters might remain in the team. After witnessing Reid’s power plays and sabotage against Voight throughout this season, viewers eagerly anticipate a satisfying and reasonable conclusion. Luckily, the episode synopsis hints that the characters are determined to outmaneuver Reid. Here’s hoping that the IU officers regain their positions, Reid faces repercussions for his behavior, and Voight can finally find closure.
Although many supporters are with Voight, some notice similarities between Reid and Voight’s past self. Watching Reid has made it more apparent that Voight has evolved and grown more sensitive over time, making for an intriguing character study. Reddit user @Ok_Limit6636 put it this way:
“While most fans find themselves siding with Voight, others see some commonalities between Reid and Voight’s former self. Observing Reid has made it clearer that Voight has progressed and developed a more vulnerable side over the years, making for an intriguing exploration of character development.
I had been expecting Reid to turn into a reliable companion for Voight, given that Voight once rescued him from being shot during an earlier episode. Sadly, it seems like Reid is only spiraling downward. It appears there’s no hope for his redemption.
Redditor @TakasuXAiaska wrote in another thread:
“How ironic. Voight used to be like Reid too.”
In the finale of The Rookie’s seventh season, some viewers felt that the action and resolution weren’t as thrilling as anticipated, with many expressing a desire for more closure on storylines. Conversely, in Chicago P.D.’s twelfth season finale, fans will find it rewarding if the Intelligence Unit experiences a positive conclusion and Reid is compelled to cease causing them harm. If not, it won’t seem like a genuine season finale, and viewers may be left unsatisfied.
The Chicago P.D. Season 12 Finale Will Also Focus On Burgess And Ruzek’s Wedding

In the final episode of season 12 of Chicago P.D., we see just how committed partners Kim Burgess and Adam Ruzek are to their careers. However, as is often the case in TV shows, weddings and celebrations seldom run smoothly. Even before reading the synopsis or watching the trailer for episode 22, it was evident that this wedding day wouldn’t be without its complications. Despite the turmoil surrounding them, it appears that Adam and Kim, the beloved couple from the police drama, will indeed get married, as evidenced by pictures of them in their suit and gown published by PEOPLE magazine.
According to reports, actress Marina Squerciati showcased several wedding dresses on her Instagram account and sought opinions from her followers about their favorites. Squerciati herself expressed interest in knowing which gowns her audience found appealing.
It’s been quite a while now, hasn’t it? A total of three events, spanning 12 years. I genuinely believed the fans should have a voice in this. It was something I truly valued. Unfortunately, I couldn’t share the final dress selection with everyone online, but their preferences definitely influenced my decision.
