Citadelle des Morts: How to Get the Durendal Sword – Black Ops 6

As a seasoned Zombies aficionado with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that acquiring Durendal, the Electric Sword in Black Ops 6’s Citadelle des Morts, is a journey worth embarking on. The steps to claim this bad boy are as intricate and exciting as any high-level quest in a fantasy RPG.

In the map “Citadelle des Morts” from Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode, one of the four swords obtainable by players is known as Durendal, the Stag Knight’s sword. This electrically charged weapon provides robust defense for its wielders. Players eager to make it their preferred melee weapon will need to follow specific instructions to acquire Durendal in Black Ops 6. With these steps, they can master this Electrifying Sword and rule over all.

To make Durendal, the coveted weapon in Black Ops 6 Zombies – Citadelle des Morts, follow these steps: primarily, you need to locate items hidden at various spots on the map. The instructions to find and collect Durendal’s Electric Sword are detailed below.

Step 1: Acquire the Stag Bastard Sword

The Stag Bastard Sword is acquired once players reach Round 10, as they will need to acquire a Stamp exclusive to zombies with Templar helmets on their heads that spawn at random. Players must take this stamp to the Dining Hall, where Vulture Aid is found, and then interact with the statue on the closet left to the door leading to the Entrance Hall. This statue is noted for having a stag on the knight statue’s chest, as well as being placed next to wooden boxes. Interacting with the statue with a Stamp provides the Stag Bastard Sword.

Step 2: Find All Lightning Rod Locations

Now that you’ve obtained the Stag Bastard Sword, it’s time to find the three elusive Lightning Rods. Here’s a guide on how to locate each one:

In the Dungeon, near the Quick Revive spot, you’ll come across the initial Lightning Rod. Hanging out in this location for a while will bring forth a zombie carrying a Lightning Rod in its torso. Once you’ve eliminated this zombie, the rod will fall to the ground and become yours to pick up, adding it to your inventory.

In simpler terms, the second Lightning Rod consistently appears in a fixed location, which is near the horse stable housing Deadshot Daiquiri along the Nature Path. To find it, simply face Deadshot Daiquiri and look left towards a stack of boxes; there you’ll find the Lightning Rod just sitting there, ready for collection.

To complete the third Lightning Rod task, you’ll either need Dead Wire (obtained from The Arsenal for 500 Salvage) or Shock Charge (crafted at a Level 42 Crafting Bench for 500 Salvage). After that, head to the Upper Village area, located near Speed Cola. With Speed Cola behind you and facing an eastern wall, look for an electric panel close to a lamp light on the wall. Shoot this panel with a weapon that has Dead Wire equipped to activate it, and the third and final Lightning Rod will drop.

Step 3: Electrify the Urn at the Ramparts

After obtaining the three Lightning Rods, players can venture through the courtyard, climb the stairs, and reach Elemental Pop’s location to proceed into the Hillside Ramparts. Upon reaching the upper level, look towards the western wall where you’ll discover an urn. Interacting with this urn allows you to insert all three Lightning Rods within it. This action will trigger the spawning of zombies with purple eyes and fill the Ramparts area with a storm.

In simpler terms, players should keep their Stag Bastard Sword at the ready, then dodge or eliminate zombies while patiently waiting for a lightning bolt to strike the sword. After that, they must approach the urn and smash it with the glowing blue sword (indicating it’s electrified). This process needs to be repeated three times, so players should hang around the zombies in the Ramparts near the urn, waiting for their opportunity to strike with an electrified sword.

Step 4: Interact with the Urn to Get Durendal

After striking the urn three times with an electrically charged sword, players can then engage with the urn to transfer their sword to it. This process will empower their Stag Bastard sword, transforming it into its enhanced version known as Durendal. Once the animation showing the sword being charged with lightning has finished, players can return to the urn for a reward, claiming Durendal and gaining another enhanced sword in Citadelle des Morts.

If players no longer want to use a particular sword, they can simply take it to the Dining Hall and exchange it with the Stag Knight statue by interacting with it. The Stag Knight will accept the unwanted sword and give the player their personal melee weapon back as a replacement.

Is the Durendal Electric Sword Good?

Durendal is a fairly good sword, but compared to other Special Attacks from the 4 Swords, it’s noticeably weaker. Its unique feature, a chain lightning attack similar to the Wunderwaffe DG-2’s, adds a cool effect, but unfortunately, when charged, it doesn’t pack as much punch as expected. At launch, it was significantly underpowered and could use an upgrade, especially since it barely damages Amalgams.
