Clash of Clans: Best Elixir Troops, Ranked

Clash of Clans: Best Elixir Troops, Ranked

As someone who’s spent countless hours strategizing and executing attacks in the realm of Clash of Clans, I must say that these three troops – Electro Titan, Healer, and Root Rider – have truly revolutionized the game for me.

In the popular game Clash of Clans, strategy is key, thanks to a wide array of troops, spells, and heroes available for players. A notable aspect are the elixir troops that can be trained and improved upon. With 17 different options at your disposal, deciding which ones to use and how to strategically combine them can be challenging. This guide will highlight top elixir troops in Clash of Clans, taking into account various Town Hall levels, their space requirements, and overall strength.

The statistics provided below pertain to fully upgraded troops. This rankings system considers top-tier Elixir troop options for Town Hall 16. While the main focus is on their effectiveness at this level, we will also touch upon their usefulness at lower Town Hall stages, specifically when they are initially unlocked.

10 P.E.K.K.A

High Hitpoints, High Damage, What’s Not To Love? Walls

Clash of Clans: Best Elixir Troops, Ranked

  • Barracks Level Required: 10 (Town Hall 8)
  • Attack Speed: 1.8 seconds
  • Attack Range: 0.8 tiles

The P.E.K.K.A is a staple of Clash of Clans and is a powerful elixir troop, particularly when it’s first unlocked. In fact, it is part of the popular GoWiPe strategy at Town Hall 8, which involves Golems, Wizards and P.E.K.K.As. Despite its high health, the P.E.K.K.A is most effective when deployed behind a tank that can soak up damage, such as a Golem.

The P.E.K.K.A can inflict significant damage per strike, but due to its relatively slow attack rate, it might take some time to demolish structures and walls with high health on its own. Over time, as more powerful troops have been introduced, alternative tactics have come into play, reducing the effectiveness of the P.E.K.K.A.

9 Balloon

Slow-Moving As It Drops Bombs From Above

Clash of Clans: Best Elixir Troops, Ranked
  • Barracks Level Required: 6 (Town Hall 4)
  • Area Splash Radius: 1.2 tiles
  • Attack Speed: 3 seconds
  • Attack Range: 0.5 tiles

In the popular game Clash of Clans, players frequently underestimate the usefulness of Balloons. However, these units can be employed in various tactics. For instance, at Town Hall levels 4 to 6, taking out Air Defenses and deploying Balloons is an effective strategy. At higher Town Halls, though, Balloons require protection, like Dragons at Town Hall 7 and 8, or Lava Hounds at Town Hall 9 and beyond, who excel in this role.

Balloons are also used to set off Seeking Air Mines that would otherwise kill more valuable air troops such as Healers or E-Dragons. With a small housing space requirement, Balloons are by no means a powerful troop on their own, but as part of a wider strategy, they are incredibly useful.

8 Dragon

Rains Fire Down From The Sky

Clash of Clans: Best Elixir Troops, Ranked
  • Barracks Level Required: 9 (Town Hall 7)
  • Area Splash Radius: 0.3 tiles
  • Attack Speed: 1.25 seconds
  • Attack Range: 3 tiles

Dragons are an excellent choice for any player once they’re unlocked due to their high health points, potent damage output, and powerful splash attack. A popular strategy involves using lightning spells to take out Air Sweepers and Air Defenses before deploying Dragons and Balloons, a tactic that is often effective between Town Hall levels 7 and 10. At higher Town Halls, players might opt to pair Dragons with other air units like Dragon Riders for even more destructive power.

Dragons aren’t exclusively employed for offensive purposes. In fact, they are frequently given to fortify Clan Castles during Clan Wars because of their versatile strength. They are capable of wreaking havoc on attacking forces.

7 Electro Dragon

Unleashes Chains Of Lightning That Bounce Between Buildings

Clash of Clans: Best Elixir Troops, Ranked
  • Barracks Level Required: 13 (Town Hall 11)
  • Attack Speed: 3.5 seconds
  • Attack Range: 3 tiles

Electro Dragons, or E-Dragons for short, are potent airborne troops that unleash bolts of lightning. These electricity blasts can hop between as many as five targets that are adjacent to each other, dealing 20% less damage with each jump. However, due to their sluggish speed, the main threat to E-Dragons is the Air Sweeper, which persistently pushes them away and recharges their attack bar. Players can counter this by using Lightning Spells to eliminate the Sweepers. Once an E-Dragon is vanquished, a series of lightning strikes are discharged, possibly obliterating any low health point structures nearby where the E-Dragon perished.

Electronic Dragons (E-Dragons) are often employed in spam assaults, hidden within Balloons that trigger Air Mines which inflict substantial damage on E-Dragons. When coupled with Rage Spells, they can wreak havoc on bases, but the effectiveness of this approach is unpredictable.

6 Miner

Burrows Underground And Surfaces To Attack

Clash of Clans: Best Elixir Troops, Ranked
  • Barracks Level Required: 12 (Town Hall 10)
  • Attack Speed: 1.7 seconds
  • Attack Range: 0.5 tiles

Mine workers move swiftly, bypass defensive structures, and remain invulnerable while traversing underground passages. They become available at Town Hall Level 10. When used in combination, they work effectively with Hog Riders, a strategy often referred to as the “Queen Charge Hybrid”. This tactic involves the Queen dealing substantial damage to an enemy base on her own, eliminating a significant portion and the defending troops from the Clash Castle. Following this, the Mine workers along with Hog Riders are deployed, accompanied by the Grand Warden, Royal Champion (if obtained), and Healing Spells to finish off the remaining structures of the base.

Because Hog Riders leap over walls and focus on defense structures, Miners work exceptionally well in tandem. They are effective against defending heroes and Skeleton Traps, which Hog Riders tend to bypass. This strategy, known as Queen Charge Hybrid, is used at Town Hall 16, meaning that if players master it, they’ll have a strong tactic available from Town Hall 10 and beyond.

5 Wizard

Support The Army With Magic Blasts From Afar

Clash of Clans: Best Elixir Troops, Ranked
  • Barracks Level Required: 7 (Town Hall 5)
  • Area Splash Radius: 0.3 tiles
  • Attack Speed: 1.5 seconds
  • Attack Range: 3 tiles

Wizards play a crucial role in numerous tactics, providing ranged damage support for any army. They are indispensable in lower Town Hall strategies, where they inflict damage while being shielded by heavy troops like Giants or Golems due to their low health and susceptibility to traps.

At advanced Town Hall stages, these structures prove beneficial, serving either to tidy up a base or to bolster an army with distant support. Their unique capability to strike both ground and air targets makes them indispensable for taking out defending Clan Castle troops, especially airborne ones.

4 Yeti

Damage-Dealing Tank That Spawns Yetimites

Clash of Clans: Best Elixir Troops, Ranked
  • Barracks Level Required: 14 (Town Hall 12)
  • Attack Speed: 1 second
  • Attack Range: 0.8 tiles

Yetis are a formidable troop with good hit points and high damage. As they take damage, Yetimites jump from the Yeti’s bag and leap at defenses, dealing 352 damage at max level. A level 6 Yeti summons 13 Yetimites in total, and paired with a Rage Spell, they can devastate areas of a base. Yetimites do half damage to the Town Hall, but they can still destroy itwhen paired with a Rage Spell.

Yetis are adaptable troops that can serve either as a shield for units like Wizards and Bowlers, or follow larger tanks such as Golems or Root Riders. They can also be effectively combined with Earthquake or Jump spells to compensate for their difficulty in breaking through walls.

3 Electro Titan

High Health Tank That Zaps Nearby Enemies

Clash of Clans: Best Elixir Troops, Ranked
  • Barracks Level Required: 16 (Town Hall 14)
  • Attack Speed: 1.5 seconds
  • Attack Range: 1.25 tiles

The Electro Titan, a formidable tank, emits an aura that inflicts approximately 137 damage per second on all units within a 3.5 tile distance (excluding walls). This aura, combined with its substantial health pool and the capability to attack both ground and air targets, positions the Electro Titan as a formidable adversary. It can single-handedly take out defending Clan Castle troops and Skeleton Traps, which is a feat that most tanks find difficult. However, much like the P.E.K.K.A and Yeti, the Electro Titan encounters challenges when it comes to efficiently breaching walls.

Building up Electro Titans alongside defensive structures within your base is crucial because their aura effect multiplies with each one and can be amplified using Rage Spells. This setup will maximize the effectiveness of their aura in eliminating groups of defenses. In essence, these Electro Titans are multifaceted tanks that not only pack a punch but also deal significant damage on their own.

2 Healer

Heals Friendly Units From Above

Clash of Clans: Best Elixir Troops, Ranked
  • Barracks Level Required: 8 (Town Hall 6)
  • Area Splash Radius: 1.5 tiles
  • Heal Speed: 0.7 seconds
  • Heal Range: 5 tiles

Instead of inflicting harm, Healers mend friendly troops, enhancing their durability. They can be teamed up with Giants starting at Town Hall 6, but gain more popularity once the Archer Queen is unlocked at Town Hall 9. Utilizing a combination of 5 Healers alongside the Archer Queen is a well-known strategy from Town Hall 9 to 16, referred to as a “Queen Charge”. Increasing this number beyond 5 has no additional effect. Combine Rage, Jump, Freeze, and Invisibility Spells, and the Archer Queen can single-handedly demolish large portions of an enemy base.

Healers’ primary vulnerabilities lie in their defense against air attacks and their seeking air mines, which can easily eliminate them. However, when the Archer Queen launches a charge, she outreaches Air Defenses and can demolish them before any damage is inflicted on the Healers. Another potential issue is Air Sweepers, which have the ability to repel Healers, preventing them from healing friendly units for a short period. Regardless, Healers excel at keeping friendly units alive and healthy.

1 Root Rider

Root Riding, Wall Wrecking

Clash of Clans: Best Elixir Troops, Ranked
  • Barracks Level Required: 17 (Town Hall 15)
  • Attack Speed: 2.2 seconds
  • Attack Range: 1 tile

As a devoted Clash of Clans player, let me share my excitement about the latest addition to our troops – the Root Rider. This powerhouse is hands down the strongest troop we’ve seen yet! With its impressive health points, decent damage output, and an ability to slice through walls as if they were nothing, it’s like attacking on easy mode. You no longer need Jump or Earthquake Spells, or a Siege Machine, just deploy Root Riders, and watch them effortlessly breach those defenses!

Players can aid Root Riders with various damage-dealing units like Mages, Throwers, Abominable Snowmen, Warrior Women, Witches, Electric Titans. Given that Root Riders are adept at destroying walls, any troop unit can enter the enemy base. Despite several balance adjustments, Root Riders continue to be the preferred tactic for those who possess them, as they are widely used by the community.
