Clash Royale Officially Adding Mega Knight Evolution

Key Takeaways

  • Mega Knight and P.E.K.K.A. Evolutions are coming in Clash Royale Season 63.
  • Both were released prematurely as part of a late August 2024 maintenance update, but were promptly pulled.
  • Clash Royale Season 63 kicks off on September 2.

As a seasoned Clash Royale player with over five years under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Mega Knight and P.E.K.K.A. Evolutions! The anticipation has been building ever since their accidental release last month, only to be swiftly yanked away from us mere mortals.

In an upcoming season of Clash Royale, the game is introducing Evolutions for the characters Mega Knight and P.E.K.K.A. Some players have been given early access to these evolutions, but later found they could no longer use them. The enhanced versions of these characters will be released during the next season of Clash Royale.

The Evolution feature for cards in Clash Royale was first introduced in June 2023, enabling players to evolve Barbarians, Royal Giant, Firecracker, and Skeletons. By September 2024, Supercell had added a total of 21 unique card variants through this evolution process.

Clash Royale Mega Knight, P.E.K.K.A. Evolutions Released Prematurely

In a short while, two additional cards from the game Clash Royale will undergo Evolutions, as announced by Supercell. These changes are planned for the P.E.K.K.A. and Mega Knight characters. Notably, the Mega Knight is slated to be the first card in the game to receive an Evolution variant that’s classified as Legendary. Some players have already had a sneak peek at these upcoming Evolutions, but Supercell promptly removed them from the game in late August 2024. According to RoyaleAPI, the P.E.K.K.A.’s Evolution will debut before the Mega Knight’s, with both updates expected to be rolled out in September 2024.

Mega Knight and P.E.K.K.A. Evolutions Coming in Clash Royale Season 63

Based on confirmation from Supercell’s customer service, Game Rant has learned that the premature release of P.E.K.K.A. and Mega Knight Evolutions in Clash Royale was unintentional, happening during the latest update on August 30. For a brief period, players could use Evolution Shards to unlock these characters until Supercell removed them from the game. However, those who did so are currently unable to access either Evolution as of September 1. The good news is that the Shards spent by players should be returned to their accounts, provided they haven’t been restored already, according to a representative from Supercell.

We don’t have a specific date yet for when the P.E.K.K.A. and Mega Knight updates will be launched in the game, but Supercell has confirmed they will appear during Season 63. The new season is due to start on Monday, September 2, which is five days before the seventh anniversary of the Mega Knight’s release.

New Clash Royale Card Evolution Abilities

  • Healing Blade (P.E.K.K.A.): heals 12.5% after each kill, can overheal by up to an extra 50% HP.
  • Mega Uppercut (Mega Knight): punches a target, pushing it back four tiles, just enough to trigger his jump attack (if not distracted by nearby enemies).

Due to being high-priced cards, Supercell decided to limit the number of times Mega Knight and P.E.K.K.A can evolve. In other words, they will only evolve once every two deployments. The Mega Knight’s Evolution Ability is named Mega Uppercut, enabling it to push back an opponent up to four tiles, triggering its jump attack. On the other hand, the P.E.K.K.A.’s Evolution Ability, Healing Blade, heals the unit by 12.5% for each enemy it defeats, and can even exceed its maximum health by up to 50%. These evolutions seem capable of dealing significant damage in powerful decks within Clash Royale.
