Classic STALKER Trilogy Comes to Switch Ahead of STALKER 2 Release

Classic STALKER Trilogy Comes to Switch Ahead of STALKER 2 Release

As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours navigating the treacherous landscapes of Chernobyl, I can hardly contain my excitement for the STALKER: Legends of the Zone trilogy coming to the Nintendo Switch! The thought of exploring the Exclusion Zone on-the-go is almost too good to be true.

Have you ever found yourself sitting by a campfire, contemplating if you’d rather be in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone instead? If this thought has ever crossed your mind, the creators at GSC Game World have got you covered.

On October 31st, the Ukrainian developer has confirmed that the STALKER: Legends of the Zone trilogy will be available for play on the Nintendo Switch, allowing players to carry the terrifying events of the Zone anywhere they go.

No STALKER 2 Anomalies

The announcement comes after the November postponement of the STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl project, one of the most wish-listed games on Steam today.

The development studio has confidently told fans that the Switch version of the original STALKER trilogy won’t delay the launch of the upcoming title, which is set for release on November 20th.

It’s quite logical to suppose that Legends of the Zone for Switch will be released a month earlier, in order to prevent it from competing with its sequel.

GAME: Stalker: Legends of the Zone can be played on Xbox One, Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and there’s no news about its release on Nintendo yet regarding pricing. PUBLISHER: The usual bundle price is around $39.99, but individual titles can also be purchased for $19.99 each on both platforms.

This game, “STALKER: Legends of the Zone,” is a version adapted from the original three games in the series: “STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl” (released in 2007), “STALKER: Clear Sky” (released in 2008), and “STALKER: Call of Pripyat” (released in 2009).

Turning Jank into Gold

The STALKER trilogy is often considered the pinnacle of the unique genre known as ‘slavic-noir’, characterized by games developed in Eastern Europe that feature rough gameplay mechanics but manage to evoke a captivating, almost mythical ambiance.

Given its characteristics, there’s curiosity about how well the game STALKER, known for its challenging AI opponents, detailed inventory system, and emphasis on audio atmosphere for immersion and survival, will adapt to the Nintendo Switch platform.

On the topic of versatility and add-ons, The Switch is quite impressive. However, it’s challenging to envision the traditional STALKER games delivering a seamless playthrough with the standard controllers and integrated speakers.

Simultaneously, it’s worth noting that this isn’t the initial radioactive survival horror shooter game on this platform. Previously, our fellow Ukrainian studio, 4A Games, had released enhanced versions of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light for the Switch, to generally favorable reviews.

In handheld mode, Metro Redux maintains a frame rate of 30 frames per second at 720p resolution, but it’s worth noting that some users have expressed concerns about relatively longer load times compared to the original PC version.

Before the grand arrival of STALKER 2, STALKER: Legends of the Zone serves as a fantastic chance to refresh your memory about the narrative, settings, and personalities. Happy hunting, explorer!
