Classroom of Elite Season 4 Episode 5 Review

The following article contains spoilers for Classroom of the Elite Season 4, Episode 5.

The popular anime Classroom of the Elite is returning for a fourth season in Spring 2026, alongside other big titles like One Piece. This season will adapt the story arc covering the first semester of the students’ second year. After growing closer during their first year, things are starting to shift for Class 2-D.

I’ve been watching this anime, and things are really picking up! We’re almost at the halfway point of this part of the season – episode six is coming up next. The story is building a lot of suspense, especially now that the risks are increasing and there’s a bounty out for Ayanokoji.

A Special Test is Coming During Summer Break

I noticed a shift in Ayanokoji recently. He seemed to intentionally reveal a bit more of his ability, and it really showed on the first written math test – he got a perfect score. Everyone was stunned, especially considering his performance last year. It was even more surprising because the test was designed to be incredibly difficult, even beyond the typical high school curriculum, so a perfect score wasn’t thought to be possible.

When Class 2-D questioned his unexpectedly high scores, Horikita quickly intervened, claiming she knew he was naturally talented in math but asked him to downplay it. The others were skeptical, but she explained that last year, Ayanokoji would have been an easy target if his abilities were known. Now that Class 2-D is more unified, she believes they can protect him, so it’s okay for him to show his skills. She hinted he might be skilled in other areas as well, but kept details vague, calling it all part of their overall strategy.

Although some were initially upset, they ultimately understood her explanation and seemed content with it. When students from other classes asked questions, Ayanokoji followed Horikita’s lead and stuck to her planned responses.

Suzune Horikita Joins the Student Council

Following through on her earlier commitment, Horikita begins her work with the student council. Before she does, she talks to Ayanokoji about the recent rewards being offered, and Ayanokoji believes President Nagumo may be responsible. To test this theory and gauge Nagumo’s reaction, Horikita asks Ayanokoji to go with her to the council room to speak with him.

So, you asked me to join the student council to watch President Nagumo, but it seems like there’s more to it than just that, right?

— Suzune Horikita

Now that Horikita is on the student council, she can monitor his actions and work to stop any changes he might make that could hurt Class 2-D. She also plans to eventually become the council president, following in her brother’s footsteps.

There’s Still a Bounty on Ayanokoji’s Head

Despite Hosen’s recent setbacks, the challenge to expel Ayanokoji and earn 20 million points for first-years is still active. The new students attempting this have shifted their strategy. At the same time, Ayanokoji is investigating which student came from the White Room, and currently suspects Amasawa and Nanase.

The episode concluded with teacher Chabashira announcing a new special test. Students will have the chance to spend eight days on a luxury cruise ship before summer vacation ends, but they’ll need to survive a challenging game during the break to earn a spot. While details are still scarce, this test seems to be the cross-class opportunity many first-years have been waiting for—a chance to go after Ayanokoji and collect the 20 million yen reward offered for his capture.
